About the Author

Scott Empson is the chair of the Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology degree program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where he teaches Cisco routing, switching, network design, and leadership courses in a variety of different programs (certificate, diploma, and applied degree) at the postsecondary level. Scott is also the program coordinator of the Cisco Networking Academy Program at NAIT, an area support center for the province of Alberta. He has a Masters of Education degree along with three undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in English; a Bachelor of Education, again with a major in English/Language Arts; and a Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology, with a major in Network Management. He currently holds several industry certifications, including CCNP, CCDP, CCAI, CEH, and Network+. Before instructing at NAIT, he was a junior/senior high school English/Language Arts/Computer Science teacher at different schools throughout Northern Alberta. Scott lives in Edmonton, Alberta, with his wife, Trina, and two children, Zach and Shae.   Patrick Gargano has been a Cisco Networking Academy Instructor since 2000. He currently heads the Networking Academy program and teaches CCNA/CCNP-level courses at Collège La Cité in Ottawa, Canada, where he has successfully introduced mastery-based learning and gamification into his teaching. In 2013 and 2014, Patrick led the Cisco Networking Academy student “Dream Team,” which deployed the wired and wireless networks for attendees of the Cisco Live conferences in the United States. In 2014, Collège La Cité awarded him the prize for innovation and excellence in teaching. Since this portable command guide maps to the CCNP 300 Series it should have DMVPN and GRE commands. Provide electronic updates including the aforementioned, and this is a five star publication!

Good choice to learn CCNP

Good portable CLI command guide for new CCNP R&S Certs, but it is missing some key commands. Does not include much on VPNs. No DMVPN or GRE tunnels. The last CCNP Route portable command guide included VPN and GRE tunnels and is better than this guide.

The book is great; 14 chapters from Basic to Campus security.Each Chapter is its own subject, so the spanning of multiple chapters you won’t find. Chapters 1 - 7 are Routing based and provide commands from implementing to hardening. There are examples, pictures, and troubleshooting tips.The book is perfect for me, in that has become part of my reference material. With the "Create Your Own Journal Here" section, I have written notes pertaining to my networks and I like that. Yes I am a tech guy, but I still use my mechanical pencil.Great Book!

I'd say that this is one of the best booklets that Cisco Press has ever published. Not only does it go through and define almost every command you could run into on the CCNP exams, but it also provides tons of detail that is left out of the Official Certification & Foundation Learning guides, including feature/protocol intercompatibility, common issues, & implementation scenarios. I will say that is is a little light on the VPN section, but other than that I was thoroughly impressed with the content - especially for the SWITCH material.

Love this book~! Bought it a couple weeks ago and started reading last week, am now about half-way through and I must say--- this writer/instructor sure makes geology understandable to layman like myself. Have a few other geo-books, like the Roadside series, and I find myself struggling to follow the writer's geography-laced jargon because I was constantly referring back to the Index, which sometimes, the words just weren't there to help me better understand. Geology is an incredibly complex subject but Ms Spooner puts it into a very digestible format. Thank you~!

Great book really helped me out with my prior Geology class that I had taken with the author who wrote the book herself. Having her as a professor and as well as a reference using this helped tremendously on understanding the course.

I find this an excellent book for any one intereseted in Earth Science. It prersents some pretty technical information in layman's terms and explains those terms associated with Geology that must be used. A good book for a Geology 1 student to use as a supplement to a college text book but also a good book for the non-student just interested in why we have earth quakes, volcanoes and all the rest of those things. This book covers everything I ever dreamed of knowing about our earth in easy to understand terms. There are lots of "Ah ha!" moments where I finally understood certain concepts that had always been a mystery to me. Definitely a keeper!

This book answers all your geology questions simply and clearly. Sometimes I wonder why books like this are not used in universities instead of the textbooks chosen by professors. No doubt, it has something to do with the publishers of textbooks. Nevertheless, you don't need a geology textbook if you have Geology for Dummies. I look forward to learning more geology after learning the terminology and definitions of the body of knowledge of geology in this one little book. It is a good read also!

This is a fantastically written, easy to understand review of Geology that really helped me understand the subject in such an easy way. As a long time fan of the Dummies books this is at the top of my list for developing an understanding of a subject quickly. I have to take a Geology class soon and I feel so much more confident now. As I study Soil Science going forward I'll be sure to get any of the Dummies books written by Alecia Spooner! Highly recommended!

'Geology For Dummies' has been big seller for Amazon for a long time now; I got the cheapest copy I could get and even that took a while owing to its popularity, but it's been more than worth it. All the basic concepts of the earth are spoon-fed just the way a 'Dummies' fan likes it. Halfway into it now I know it's a 5-star keeper, for sure. Highly recommended.

I was very surprised to see so many different uses of slang, but I can sure use it, I write poetry, and sometimes a short story under a different name. I always have a dictionary, or my thesaurus at my disposal, what I lacked was slang,

If you do any amount of reading,this is an excellent resource to have on your bookshelf.It is a big,dictionary sized book of 1400 pages,and has over 100,000 listings.It may not have every slang word or saying;but its certainly got a lot and more than that,it has a zillion you have never even heard.I find it fun to just open it up at any page and read away. Just for fun,that is exactly what I just did.I randomly opened it at page 377.The first entry was :"fallen angel"-A defaulter,a bankrupt :Stock Exchange I thought it meant a prostitute.Then I checked "soiled dove" a term used in the Old West.On page 1111 there it was"soiled dove"-A high-flying harlot later C19-early C20. then there's,"false as my knife"-As with knives,so with false friends--they'll cut me.Or how about"fam trip"-A familiarization flight in a new aircraft.or"fan in a fin"-A helicopter's 13 tail roters which,since they are shrouded , are known as"fan in fin"or how's this one;"false hereafter"-A dress-improver or bustle-used 1890-1900.Then there's this one,"family pound"-A family grave.or"family hotel"-A prison. 1840-1890 "In a ward with one's pals,Not locked up in a cell."To an old hand like me it's a family hotel". That should give you an idea of what to expect.I choose only a few of the many entries on this one page;and just imagine what is to be found on the other 1400 pages.

The author sets out to explain that soap making is easy to do.What I liked about this book is the emphasis on natural ingredients and the fact the author explains the different oils he recommends. He explains his method of no-water all-milk soap making very well so it's not intimidating. He also strongly emphasizes safety, and with every safety warning, reminds his readers they can do it. That it's just about being cautious and respectful with lye.In fact, it's very nearly a perfect primer on making soap with goat milk. Good instructions, good safety tips, several recipes that range from fairly simple to a complex luxury bar. The only thing I didn't like about the book is the fact that actual instructions for soap making techniques come after the recipes. The soap formulas themselves come with minimal instructions.But that's more than balanced by the good online buying guide at the end which explains where to get all the ingredients and supplies.I do recommend it to beginning soapmakers and people who have only made soap a few times but haven't tried milk soaps yet.

Having purchased several books on making goats milk soap, this book is by far the best and the recipes sound do good that I can't wait to start making my own soaps. There are so many chemicals in products that we use on our skin everyday it must put our body in overdrive just trying to get rid of all of them. I would rather take my chances on a product I know what the contents are. Thanks for a great book and helping to build up confidence in my self to make soap!!!

Love IT!!! Great little book for the price. Easy to follow instructions, great explanation on the oils, scents and science. I am on my second batch (the first was someone else's recipe, the second one of his) - they should be ready in 6 weeks so it will be nice to compare the oil ratios. Liked it so much I got the Shampoo Bar one as well!

I am about to start making my own goat milk soap and needed to learn the basic how to's. I found a lot of information I did not know about and now have the confidence to try my hand at making soap using my goat's milk. I have even been able to use information from this book to answer a friend's question. My friend wanted to know how to use plant material to color her soap. I was very happy to find the information in this book. The style of soap making is very similar to my own. I like home grown and organic products. That is why I want to make soap in the first place.

Im giving a full 5 stars because I'm fully satisfied with the info provided. This is by far the first book that covers goat milk soaping in detail. I do wish they'd included info on making it with hot process, since they did mention it. Or making liquid soap. But this is quite informative none the less and cleared up a few issues so far.

Though I haven't yet made any of the recipes, this book offers not only recipes, but clear explanations of multiple methods.

Very well written and easy to understand with recipes and info on oils and why you would or wouldn't want to use them.

Loved this book! Very comprehensive and easy to understand with several very good recipes I can't wait to try!

This was a great look into Vietnam, from the perspective of a young soldier. Although the book is fiction, there is no doubt about the realities expressed in the book; the reader is immersed into the environment of physical combat, and the experiences of those in it's midst. If you've ever been in or around military combat, this book will resonate. If you have not been around combat, this book will exhibit a slice of the Vietnam 'pie' that so many have endured.

My daughter bought this book for my grandson for his high school summer reading assignment. Trying to get him to get started on it I challenged him that I could finish reading it before he could. And I absolutely HATE to read. All I can say is that I finished it in 5 days and am considering another book by this author. It is a great book and I highly recommend it !!

I was given the option to select from a small list of books for a school assignment and a friend of mine recommended Fallen Angels. I chose it because we like similar books and I've enjoyed every other story I've read by Mr. Meyers, and I do not regret my decision. There were a few errors in the wording of the digital copy compared to the narration (which was phenomenal) but they didn't interfere with my reading experience. Love the book, the author, the narrator, and every detail of the book.

Intense. I had to put it down sometimes to rest my mind from the mental images. That's good writing. Totally recommend.

This was a good book to read. It was an easy read and I would recommend it to the High School level only student beause of the language used by the characters and the grahic war scenes in the book. The relationships that develop through the characters is a reason to want to read it. If you have some historical knowledge of that period it would help you understand the setting of the book and events that led each one the characters to arrive at war in Viet Nam. It is a view of war through the eyes of the author. It is well written and it captures the human side of soldiers who are pressed into situations they have no control over. They must grow up quickly in that hostile environment with what survival skills they have. It keeeps your attention.

Knauft's writing style is exceptionally captivating as he tells the life story of such a wonderful culture. Knauft's descriptive writing allows an exceptional view of their daily lives, it almost seems as the reader grows to know the Gebusi themselves. I highly recommend The Gebusi for anyone studying anthropology, or anyone who loves reading about other culture's changes over time.

This book is very well written and while short in length this book is long on interesting Anthropological content. I picked this up for an Anthropology class and I enjoyed the book so much that I've recommended it to friends.

This book was assigned to me by my Anthropology professor. I had little to no knowledge on the Gebusi and their lives. This is an interesting read if you are into different cultures,ethnicities, practices... You know it. Amazing, just truly amazing.

This book is everything I enjoy in a good read, part narrative history, part business and economics, and a dash of philosophy about how we farm and feed ourselves.Bob's story captures the journey of the Organic farming movement in the US, along with fascinating insights into wheat production (a crop I'm less familiar with than others).A very enjoyable read, I recommend it as a primer on the Organic movement and why Organic and Regenerative farming is better for the earth and our diets.

Mind blowing account of a Farmer in Montana who went organic in the eighties, made ancient Kamut wheat an international succes, reintroduced veggies, berries and fruit trees to the semi arid area (no irrigation needed, while ‚water stress‘ produces an explosion of taste - how amazing. And just because he doesnt like Big Oil particularly he produces safflower oil, ‚rents it out, to cooks, takes it back once it is exhausted and fires his tractors with it. „Grain by grain“ moved my heart and makes me want to do something. Infectioos in a good way :)

A few years ago, my family joined about 20 other folks on a Painted Mountain corn harvest project at Bob Quinn’s farm in Big Sandy. This was my first look into Bob’s world; I had met him several times and interacted at meetings and workshops, but had never been to his acclaimed farm. Pulling up to the property that October, we noticed the neat yard and impressively tidied up garden, with grain bins in the background and the Bearpaw mountains off to the south. We found out that Bob and was off in another country, and his farm employee showed us to the corn plot, but not before guiding us through the orchard and vineyard. What a magical place!Learning that Liz Carlisle and Bob were co-authoring a book was very exciting; especially when I found out I was at the Farm Tour where the idea first came to them. The seeds of that idea were sprouted as we walked through the various Farmers’ fields, and maybe I heard them talking about it, or maybe I was too busy watching bees on the sweet clover, or looking at the nitrogen fixing nodules on lentil roots. I particularly enjoyed reading Liz's book "Lentil Underground" for all the characters I knew, and I was hoping that this book would include some of Montana’s food world’s more well-known heroes. If you are interested in food and farming science (like Michael Pollan’s) books, or similar documentaries, you’ll want to have this book in your collection.

So many news articles recently are written about third and fourth generation farmers who are about to lose their farms or are struggling and may not survive more than a few more years. I'd like to see this book available not only on Amazon and in bookstores, but also displayed at county and state fairs, especially in the south and midwest, where bankruptcies are especially acute. The authors have something special to offer these farmers -- ways to think outside the box. Bob Quinn's thoughts about diversity in growing crops, the promise that dry land farming holds as water is becoming more scarce in our country, his suggestions on how to make a farm more productive and help one's community to regenerate are just a few of the topics covered. I'm familiar with Bob's views on organic farming, but his approach to some of the problems he encountered farming and how he solved those problems was what I found most interesting. His natural curiousity about a wide variety of subjects has led him down a multitude of paths and on to new discoveries from wind farms and flour mills to biofuel and growing fruit in northern Montana. This book also addresses some of the health problems our nation is experiencing, the part our food choices have on our well-being and some solutions that are worth taking time to investigate. This book gives its readers a lot to think about.

As someone who's familiar with Bob and his work and outlook, I was concerned his optimism and enthusiasm would get lost behind the issues being addressed. This was not the case. Grain by Grain is a positive, informative and logical call to change how we perceive our food and the people who grow it. Despite not being a farmer myself, I found myself agreeing with and relating to various points throughout the book. It was an enjoyable, motivational and thought-provoking read. I would recommend it to anyone who has questions about organic or the food we eat.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is a quick read. I is theologically rich, yet piratical. You can take what you learned and use it immediately in your life. It will change you view of the world.

This book brought the book of Esther to life for me in a new way and showed me the relevance for today. Each chapter spurs you on to the next one and it ends with the hope of the Gospel and the knowledge that God keeps His promises!

Recently, I’ve been studying Esther and I am so glad I came across this commentary. Pastor Cain breaks down the scripture line by line, then shows the big picture of how it fits into our lives today.

I never realized God is not mentioned once in Esther. Yet, after reading the God of Great Reversals I am reminded He was and is everywhere in this story and mine. This was such an encouragement for my daily life where God sometimes seems so distant or uninvolved in the small daily everyday stuff. Tim Cain really showed how God orchestrated so much in the behind the scenes story of Esther it left me loving Jesus more and helped me respond to the hard everyday stuff of life that we encounter living in a broken world.

This is a refreshing look at the book of Esther. The book got better with each chapter as I was drawn deeper into the drama, much different than reading on your own. And far superior to the few movies out there on Esther. What a picture of the truth that God is the hero! Also, each chapter ends with powerful reflection on how the story points us to Christ and his work on the cross. I was blown away more than once!

I have read the book of Esther many times, and in all of those readings, I have never ever thought of the significance and display of the Lord's love in that book as Tim Cain presents!Tim Cain has the gift of taking God's Word and explaining it with such detail and right of amount historical information making this book an awesome read as well as studying God's Word.Tim truly has a gift of writing, and insight to the reader's expectation. My wife gave me this book as a gift, and I have not put it down. I am purchasing several copies for my friends and family to share with them.Thank you Tim Cain, and I can not wait for your next book!
