I loved this book. I can't say that I always loved the main characters. Sometimes I loved the way they interacted and complimented each other's personality, but there occasions when I wanted to slap one or the other, or both for the way they treated each other and the choices they made. That is what made their story so captivating. They kept pulling me back and forth emotionally and the conflict made this story so much more. Please keep giving us the gift of your writing!
In Marriage Games, the first book in this duet, CD Reiss has a running motif of cold and ice that reflects the state of this marriage. Adam has frozen part of himself off, leaving a cold void where his dominance once thrived. He refers to Diana as his "little huntress," but her mythological namesake pursues creatures whose hearts beat warm blood. What Adam can't see is that part of his heart, much like the snow drifts in Manhatten and the Hamptons, is too cold to hunt. When Adam observes that his "toe made a divot in the crust of ice but didn't break through," he might as well be talking about himself.Yes, Adam loves his wife. You will not question this. in fact, you will agonize with him over Diana's absence. Adam professes that she is "light, life, energy. Everything." And you believe him. You know this to be true. Reiss uses this to almost turn you against Diana, to dislike her with the same intensity with which Adam loves her.And then Reiss changes the "game," and you find yourself standing on that frozen crust of ice, feeling it crack underneath you.Then comes Separation Games, and you will thank CD Reiss for having both books in this complete series.Much as she did with ice cracking beneath Adam's feet in Marriage Games, CD Reiss uses the motif of a tracking device on Adam's and Diana's phones as a metaphor for their relationship. They may be emotionally disconnected, but they are aware of each other physically. Now that Adam has introduced his wife to the D/s lifestyle, that physical awareness is heightened. It is pervasive. For Adam, the physical is all he allows himself to feel. Diana, however, is determined to show him that they are conjoined emotionally as well. As she observes when she locates him using her phone, "Despite everything, we tracked each other. Proof that no matter what the level of our heart's betrayal, our souls knew where we belonged."A secondary metaphor comes through an art teacher Diana had in college. The professor taught her that it is possible for two opposites to co-exist at the same time and for you to believe both. Adam needs to understand that being a Dominant does not mean forsaking his heart. He can love his wife and have her as his submissive. He can be both Montauk Adam - the man who initiated his wife into submission - and Manhattan Adam - the man who loves his wife. Opposites can co-exist and Adam can believe both at the same time.Adam's nickname for Diana is "huntress." What he does not understand, at least at first, is that a huntress does not always seek a victim. Sometimes she seeks a power greater than anything she has on her own. She seeks someone who will complete her, who will bring her to a fully realized fulfillment. "Complacency is the prologue to calamity," Diana tells us. She will not be complacent about this hunt. She will play this game prepared to win, just as she is prepared for the opposite: for Adam to win as well.Adam Steinbeck is one of the most complex, fully realized characters I've encountered. I'm not sure I'm ready to let him go, and I certainly hope Diana doesn't.

There is love, there is loyalty, and there is a partnership of equals. What appears to be a perfect marriage is only the surface gloss of two souls who are in denial of who they truly are. This story delves into the psyche of these two lovers while sharing from both their POV's their most intimate secrets.Would you change yourself to the point of not being able to recognize your needs and desires for the sake of someone you love? I would have to say yes. I have lived it. You want to preserve the love. Denying and adjusting who you are and seeking a status quo is easier than delving deep inside or forcing your partner to look deep inside and analyze. Sometimes there is a definite terror to further analyzes. What if it changes what you now are comfortable with?This is our author's unequivocal masterpiece. I have read everything this author has written. In my opinion, this is her writing at the peak of her gift.
It takes the reader through a maze of emotions, thoughts and experiences. The dual POV is essential to this story and am happy to have been able to see it through their eyes. Very thought-provoking, intriguing, sexy and simply put out of this world! My heart and my mind we completely entranced and the story felt so real, that I felt I was a voyeur at times. I will always have a soft spot for Adam & Diana.
This book contains both Marriage Games series books. I had read them individually and loved them. I love her stories. And this one is different you will enjoy it.Don’t want to put down books!
Marriage Games totally had me wondering how the next book would play out and Separation Games doesn't disappoint. I loved how this duet was already about a couple married and after an event that I didn't see coming, they try to make their marriage work...by Adam's way.
A great story of discovering who you really are and having the courage to do something about it. I found I didn't want to put this down despite the sometimes dark and disturbing elements.Missing FSOG? This will satisfy you. 💖🔥
I loved this story. The story is crafted in such as way that your heart breaks for Adam as Diana seeks to end their seemingly happy marriage. CD Reiss does a fabulous job of taking apart a marriage piece by piece while keeping the reader on the edge as to the fate of the relationship. Prepare for an emotional roller coaster ride.
