The Omnibus Volumes are all awesome including this one. I jumped in a little late to get the first two in Signed & Numbered Edition, but did for third and fourth. The artwork is spectacular and the thick pages and heavy cover mean it will be enjoyed for years if not decades. I agree with another reviewer's comment that these are heavier than the reprints for the first two Omnibus Volumes.The extras at the end are incredible. Kirkman's captions for the images are included to provide background and insight on the images, including a bunch of promotional material. There is also heaps of well deserved praise for Charlie Adlard and his terrific artwork.I too had a similar experience with the Amazon packaging/shipping, although not much damage to this particular Volume. My copy for the Volume 3 has a big dent in the lower spine. This impacted the outer cover and the cover of the book (but not the pages themselves thankfully). For this Volume I only have a small dent in the cover on the binding, but not much else. I am not sure if its simply the shipping or they way they were stored. Seems like maybe one too many editions were stacked and the combined weight did the damage.Anyway, don't let the potential for a little shipping malarkey prevent you from purchasing this or any other Omnibus Volume of The Walking Dead. This is a must have for a fan of the series. As an added bonus, all Omnibus Volumes can actually be used to fend off the Walking Dead should they rise up.

If you like the series, you will love the books. As most know, the show is based on these graphic novels. Most of the story lines follow pretty close to it as well. I will say there is just enough difference that I want to both watch and read the comic side by side. The comic is much darker than the TV show and there is cursing. Most I have talked to enjoy the comic just as much as the TV Show. Def worth a read!

This item is completely messed up. Missing chapters entirely. Has chapters from a completely different work called Si, Shorty and the March to the Sea.

These books are awesome. The storyline is a little different than the show so fans will still enjoy the book even if you plan on watching the show. The art is great and I really like the cover art in the back of each book. The book is heavy and well made.I ordered one of the signed and numbered books only to have it arrive with a split corner. This is not the first book that has arrived this way. I ordered the the first Walking Dead Omnibus from Amazon last year and that one arrived with a split corner as well. I was more upset with the damage to this one because it was signed and numbered.

Do not purchase. It is a decent translation, but my copy had another novel spliced in the middle of it. Between aphorism 224- 264 there just random chapters of a book

I finally have all 6 of these. As a die hard walking dead fan, these are a must. Oversized, thick pages illustrate the comic better than ever. If you like twd, then these are for you.

Different from the tv show and definitely worth the read. I love the size of the Omnibus and the quality of the pages. I would recommend!

This writer, Ms. Riley, had potential, I think. She's got all the elements of a romance novel, but really lacks the subtilty of a well put-together book. In this book, all of it is telling, very little showing.Lots of inconsistency:1) after dinner supposed to go back to Claudia's house...they end up at Brian's place.2) is Brian driving or does he have a driver? She's on his lap in the car but the car is still moving. ??3) at 60% she wonders why she resisted Brian for so long?????????????? She never resisted Brian, not ever.4) snow? At 64% we find out it's winter.5) Her brother Mark drags her out of the animal shelter and Brian doesn't see?6) Organized crime? I don't think so.I'm going to skip this author and wish her luck.

The first time Brian saw her in all her baggy clothes getup, something shifted inside of him and he just could not get her out of his head. His soul focus these days is Claudia (the woman he met that fateful night) instead of his business. She has not responded to his phone calls or his texts and has the days go by, it's driving him crazy. So he contacted her brother and refused to do business with them if Claudia is not the main contact.Claudia's life has not been the same since the death of her grandmother, but she is trying to continue living one day at a time and she is just grateful her grandmother never saw the type of person her brother Brian is. She does not like or trust his business partner (there is just something about him that makes her fear for her life anytime he is around). Now they are trying to pimp her out to Brian, their potential business partner for him to get into business with them. The only thing they don't know is that Brian makes her feel things and have her aching fiercely for him.

Ahhhh! I was hoping Brian would get his own story, and believe me, I was so, so happy that he did! It was another smash hit from this amazing duo.When Brian’s character was first introduced in Hungry for More, I was a bit worried in the beginning about him being a jerk, but it didn’t take me long to realize he was head over heels for a girl. And trust me, I couldn’t wait to find out just how much.When he first sees Claudia, he knows she is the one for him, but he doesn’t realize exactly what she is caught up in. It’s not her fault that her brother is a total mess, and he thinks Claudia should do everything he says. Once Brian realizes she’s in trouble, he makes it his mission to do whatever it takes to keep her safe, while also making her fall in love.I adored this book so much. It’s super cute, while also intense at times. The chemistry is amazing, and it’s a perfect AR book, and I couldn’t ask for more.

All of Alexa Riley books are over the top insta love with guaranteed HEA. All well written, none that are full length novels. They vary from quickie’s to novellas. This one is more of a novella. Some are rougher or raunchier, some sweet and adorable, all with super steamy scenes. This book is more on the sweet side.Brian and Claudia meet on a job sight and Brian becomes instantly obsessed, possessive, and in love. He will stop at nothing to have Claudia in he life forever. Claudia is under the thumb of her low life brother. He wants to use her in seedy business dealings. Little does he know Brian is on to him and won’t let Claudia be treated that way. He rushes in just like a knight in shinning armor and saves the day and they live happily ever after! Enjoy!

Brian sees Claudia and instantly falls for her. She’s very shy and avoids his phone calls. Her brother and her brother’s gangster boss force her to go out with Brian because, they want his business and they told her to do anything he wants. Her brother is very mean to her and tells she can’t do anything right. She and Brian fall for each other, that’s not what her brother wants. He drags her away from her job and us going to force her to do things she doesn’t want to do. Of course Brian goes all Alpha and saves her so, they get their HEA!

I know this was meant to be a quick little read but I think it was a bit too quick.It was cute, I suppose. In an insta everything way. However, I wished there was a bit more to the story.What happened with the club?What happened to Grandma's house? The brother? Slate?I was hoping Brian's parents would make a brief appearance like they had in Sage's book.Not my fave but I liked it enough to await the next.

There's nothing else like this book on the market (that I've seen). Great (and interesting) SQL challenges.

I just started reading this book and the puzzles are challenging and interesting. However, it would have been nice if someone would have taken the trouble to create sample database scripts, with sample data. That would make solving the puzzles much more fun and less labour intensive. A model for this would be the excellent websites where SQL problems are presented with table variables and a small script to create the table in both TSQL and Oracle.This omission drops my grade a full 2 stars from 4-star to 2-star.

A marketing slogan at the back of the cover says "This little collection of puzzles is something to bash your head against while waiting your SQL epiphany". A little bit too promising.The problems in the book look very much like typical problems that I have to solve at work every day. Any mid-level SQL developer could probably write a book of the same kind and usefullness by just logging every problem they solved at work for a period of a year. For this reason, if you did a lot of SQL work, you won't find anything useful in this book.If I am presented a puzzle, I expect it to look impossible to solve at first, and once you get on track of finding a solution, solving it would turn out to be a lot of fun. The "puzzles" in this book are not like that.As other reviewers already noted, the answers are a bit disappointing, too. I sent the book back to Amazon within a day. I'd rather spend $5 on return shipping than $30 on a worthless book.

Each puzzle starts with puzzle definition or question and follows by multiple answers. Answers vary by either techniques or programming languages, in many cases both. Puzzles contained in this book are like typical day to day work problems, many time any developer can find the solution if they spend some time on it. However, some problems are quite unique in their own way and reading them gives broader idea of database programming.One thing I will note about book is the quality of the puzzle, as other reviewer has noted some puzzles are just not puzzle but simple problems which can be solved easily by experienced developer. Not all developers are on same level and I am sure every reader has their own opinion and choice.The idea on which the book is written is very simple - "Think out of the box". The problems are real, the solutions are real and multiple answers from wide verity of participants - this makes this book worth the time. Every solution has its own flair and taste. If any problem is attempted with right technique and sound theory it is always easy to reach resolution.There is no source code available to download for this book so reader will have to write everything by their own. I have been working with SQL professionally for about 5 years and I was looking for a collection of elegant SQL code tips and techniques from the pros to add to my arsenal. So I eagerly bought SQL Puzzles and Answers a few weeks ago and read it from cover to cover.The book essentially introduces the reader to the "thinking out of the box" approach to solving difficult SQL problems. The author walks us through the logic behind solutions of a collection of SQL puzzles that were submitted by readers of his magazine columns over the years. He demonstrates that there are numerous ways to solve SQL problems and that sometimes the solution lies right in the design of the base tables. But more importantly he helps the reader see that you can often solve seemingly unsolvable sql problems if you approach the problem with the right technique.My one complaint is that the book does not come with turnkey source code files and they are not available for download. So the reader will have to type everything to test the solutions solutions that are presented.Short of this there is plenty to learn here for the SQL programmer that wishes to pick up a few tricks of the trade from a pro.

This is a very nice book! I used it to increase the SQL level of my employees. We did two puzzles a week, and compared our answers. And it sure helped. But there are some buts in this story. First, the puzzles are not always defined well, so you do not know what to do before you see the discussion in the answer part. Second, a lot of the solutions are not very good. Whenever I found a better one, I mailed Joe Celko. Every time he replied to me (very nice!) that somebody else also pointed it out and that there were even better solutions that mine. This means that the solutions are not always that good in the book. But still, it has alo of good brainteasers. I was using Pimsleur and wanted "phrases". Not very happy with this product. Not good for learning unless you can memorize the 3/4 phrases in one session and never practice going forward. At least with Pimsleur you get to use and build upon your skills.

One narrator was Ingrid, wife and mother, who has written a plethora of letters to her husband Gil, whom she addresses as “you” in these missives. She is finally having a conversation with him, one which he cannot ignore or dismiss. She is venting about their troubled marriage and the ways in which her life was a disappointment. There are, however, some brighter moments in her letters…mostly about their lives before she had to give up her dreams. Her dreams of an education and her own writing career. The education which she was unable to complete because of the university’s rules regarding married/pregnant students.Ingrid’s letters were written in 1992, just before she seemingly drowned (or disappeared). She speaks mostly of their lives in the 1970s…but also touches on the later years.Third person narrators included Gil and Flora. We see Nan from Flora’s perspective, and I didn’t like her very much, probably because she tends to dismiss Flora’s thoughts and ideas, and treats her like a young child. Nan apparently took on the mother’s role after she was gone. Later on, we see a kinder version of her.Gil seemed like a very selfish man, but since his present day situation shows him troubled and ill, I did feel some sympathy for him.I loved the descriptions of the book lined rooms and hallways. Stacks of books, sometimes two or three deep, surrounded them all. The fact that Ingrid’s letters were placed in the books in a somewhat planned fashion added to the intrigue of the story.Would Gil find the letters? Would he finally understand what his wife had been trying to say all those years? Would there be answers to their questions? What stunning events happened to bring the story to a riveting conclusion? And who is the mysterious woman who keeps showing up in Hadleigh? A 5 star read.

This book is proof that craft is not enough to make a literary book worth reading. There is no question Ms. Fuller's prose is seamless and her descriptions apt. But her characters are unlikable and the plot dead on arrival. I'm surprised I stuck with it. Perhaps I was hoping for some redemption or uplift that never came. I feel sad that this book didn't have the same material woven in a way that would have made a difference to the reader. The woman protagonist was twice damned by her professor husband. First as a writing student, and then as a writer, whose work ultimately went up in smoke. Yet one feels the writer isn't really sympathetic to her. She does show sympathy to the damaged daughters, but frankly, it isn't enough. What I learned from this reading experience is content is as important as form.

It's rare that I don't finish a book, especially after I've read half-way through. But I just couldn't do it. Every time I went to pick it up, I was not looking forward to reading it. The story line meandered all over the place and I didn't feel connected to any of the characters. It was just boring to me. I skimmed through the second half just to get the gist of the ending, and I'm very glad I didn't give any more of my time to it. Just not the book for me, unfortunately.

Usually have quite a difficult time with novels which are told in epistolary form, but I found this a rather breathtaking read. I'm not sure if it is because this novel pairs so well with "The Days of Abandonment" by Elena Ferrante, which I read prior- both novels handle women coming to terms with a cheating spouse. Both are written with such clarity and I would venture to say poise. I think the concept of Ingrid placing the letters she has written to her husband in various books within their house a clever plot device. The scenes which dealt with water were painstakingly beautiful and the author executes some beautiful passages in that context. I would have liked to know, as the reader though, how Gil came to find the first letter? Did he find them out of order? He must have...perhaps I have missed something. Anywho, stunning novel about complex relationships and family ties.

Claire Fuller writes a family tale, her voice full of deep emotion, reality, yet rich with lyrical poetry, artistic descriptions, surreal imaginings. Set at the sea, a mother, strong swimmer, disappears leaving two children. The father, her husband, left long ago, infidelity and writing. The book begins as the adult children gather at the seaside home where their father is dying. Stories are remembered, visions experienced. The mother's letters over her years are shared with us readers. Fantastic story, beautifully written, never to be forgotten.

- I was taken in by the story, the changing time frames, the characters. The husband was totally selfish. His 20 year younger wife documented their difficult relationship in letters to him that she hid in old books in his personal library. He was a famous writer - famous based mostly on one book to which she unknowingly contributed a great deal. He traveled. She stayed home with two children although that wasn’t the life she had envisioned for herself. Interesting, interrelated characters. She finally leaves him and her whereabouts are unknown. Some think she is no longer alive. Themes of marriage, family, friendships, aspirations, and infidelity. Have fun putting together clues after you get to the end.

I know it's early, but I'm calling this as my favorite read of 2017. It's has everything I look for: mystery, love (and hate) story, and characters that grow by book's end. I read Fuller's OUR ENDLESS NUMBERED DAYS and though I loved it (I think I gave it five stars too) I might like SWIMMING LESSONS even more. It's hard to write about this book without giving anything away (and I hate spoilers) so just do yourself a favor and read this book.

Solid stand-alone intro to Somatic Experiencing ideas, and a great resource for anyone who deals with children and babies. Lots of specific ideas for common scenarios: medical procedures and emergencies, divorce, death, natural disasters, "everyday" traumas as well as more obvious and shocking traumas. Very readable. Not the most "scientific" or carefully worded book, some random bold pronouncements that made me scratch my head, but the lax approach also makes it easy to read and understand for the average busy parent. Overall it is pretty well cited and supported, and suggests good books for further reading on specific topics. Chock full of easily applied tips and tricks. Highly recommended!

Great for so many challenges with our kids. Our TBRI adoption/ trauma counsellor recommended this for us for our youngest in regards to preparing her for anxious situations. I felt like it had good tools for processing with our kids but its not just an adoption book. It covers trauma associated with: Medical Trauma Divorce Grief Accidents Feeling unsafe (could be an abusive situation/ foster kids from bio parent trauma)Very applicable for parents facing situations with their kids where they are "stuck" from a trauma. And building resiliency with our kids to empower them as they face hard situations. It gives good tools to use as you team up and process with your kids in a therapeutic and playful situation. It is going to help us in preparing for school this year and talking about felt safety. Kids anxiety is real and needs to be validated and processed even if as parents we think its surface or silly.

A necessity for parents in this modern age saturated by media and social networking and ever expanding role models that trauma is often not identifies. This provides parents with a clue as to the many forms of trauma that may evolve within their children. It heightens awareness which is an ever increasing deterrent in this field!

This is a very valuable book in my practice. I am pleased that Peter Levine has written a manual that is so clear and accurate describing how the impact of trauma can be successfully treated in the aftermath of natural disasters worldwide. PTSD can be treated successfully when the body is allowed to discharge the experience of shock naturally. People do not need to shut down, go into deep depression, numb out, lash out or act out if the body's ability to balance itself is evoked. Focusing on the story of what happened keeps one in the traumatic memories. The trauma is held in the body memory. We are designed as mammals to naturally freeze, tremble, breathe deeply, reorient and resume our day. People get stuck in the story, going over and over what happened and what they have lost or seen. We shut down as our thoughts overwhelm us. We brood silently and withdraw. Even then, focusing on body sensations starts to unwind the body memory of the shock. The sensations change as the body does what it is designed to do. It works. I know from personal experience. I was run over by an eighteen wheeler twenty years ago. Peter Levine's team helped and trained me.

Peter Levine has written the first book for parents on helping their child deal with shocking, traumatizing and otherwise overwhelming events. This is a book parents should read as soon as possible - so they will be prepared for when they need the information contained within its extraordinarily wise pages. I am in the midst of reading it now and will up date when I finish. There is so much trauma in the world and I you have not noticed often it is in your own back yard as wll. I want to do everything I can to support my grandchildren as they grow and face the many challenges in the world in front of them. Will review more later.

Having a midwife as a daughter, I enjoyed reading about the lives & sometimes hardships of becoming a midwife in the 1960’s. Well worth reading all Jane Yeadon’s books, & I found them all interesting & informative.

It was very interesting to read about how they trained midwives in Ireland. Human interest woven through her experiences made this a thoroughly enjoyable book.

This book had many similarities to the book, "Call the Midwife", it was like they took exerpts from the book, changed the names and put them in this book. The title doesn't even match what the book is about, very misleading. Read "Call the Midwife" instead, much better written and truly and enjoyable book.

The story was OK. But I expected stories about midwifes, Rather was about midwifery school with out much about births.

As a retired nurse midwife, I really enjoyed this account of the life and experiences of a Scottish midwife of the past. Her stories are reminiscent of my own . I guess things don't change that much! A good read.

I have loved books about midwives sin e watch in call the midwife on tv here in the states so you this book and as fun.

The story was good , the goings on in Ireland at the time were a bit scarey, there was plenty of the going's on during the mid training , but not much about her patients she attended .

I have read all books written by Harold and have recommended to friends and family. Existence is relationship and this book describes in very loving way as how that relationship exists between God and man. As with all relationships, the relationship between Man and God is also not with its joys and disappointments and those ups and downs don’t define the relationship but they strengthen it.

Great explanation of the meaning of this psalm. Writer has a good writing style and a sense of humor. Gives one a lot to think about.

Rabbi Kushner shares many insights into this well known Psalm that come from his in-depth knowledge of Hebrew and his life-time study of the Hebrew scriptures. It is easy to race through Psalm 23 thinking that we know it so we understand it. However, we seldom stop to apply it to our lives or to understand the deep insights that are embedded in these few verses. Read this little book one chapter at a time and let the truths sink into your life.

If you believe in God from a Christian or Jew perspective, you can be enlightened and delighted with this thorough explanation of the psalm and benefit from taking the posture the psalmist(s) had when writing it. I have listened to this psalm throughout my whole life and never had the opportunity to fully see all that may be found in its deep meaning. It is amazing all can be expanded from these simple phrases.I usually love Harold Kushner's way of explaining spiritual material (Must read: "When Bad Things Happen to Good People", "Living a Life that Matters" and "How Good do We Have to Be") because, although his main point of view is a religious one, even if you don't believe or don't even want to think about these points of view, you can still get the full message, get a wise vision of life, adversity, the laws of nature, reality, joy, ethics, reaching for self fulfillment and integrity, etc. But, I must repeat, in order to enjoy and benefit from this book, I think you must believe in God because this one is much more religious than the other books I mentioned from the same author. If you want to understand what may be in the depths of the psalm and don't really care about feeling peace or living according to it, go ahead and read the book because it gives an interesting way of understanding what religion may provide or wants to give.

If you ever doubt that God is with you just read this book. It doesn't give the answer you might want- He won't change things you wish He might change- but he will be there to comfort you and to help you feel less alone regardless of what happens in your life. This is an excellent translation of several of Zeami's central works on Noh drama. This should be regarded as highly as Aristotle's work "On Poetics". Although 800 years old, there is much here of value not just to an actor, but to anyone who wants to reflect on the Theatre of Life and their place within it. The Amazon narration choices leave out any settings for a translated manuscript that cites multiple authors, often citing other authors and commenting. This is a work that the reader can return to time and time again, and come away with something fresh each time.

My favorite translator published a translation of a document I was trying to hunt down. If you have an interest in Japanese culture and a background in performing arts, there's some really lovely tidbits of contemplation here!

A translation of Zeami's master work on noh drama. Well worth reading for fans of noh and Japanese history, and extremely useful as a research book - it met my needs exactly.
