I love this book! It reminds little girls that princesses are just pretty ladies who sit in castles. Princesses can kick butt as well as any guy. Leia was (and still is) my favorite Star Wars character, and this is a great way to show a kid how great she is. It represents her character extremely well. My daughter has all the "I Am A..." Star Wars Golden Books, and this and "I Am a Droid" are by far the best.

We love this book so much! I have been trying to steer my daughter away from Disney princesses and this was exactly what I was looking for. It's still a princess, but she's a strong, independent princess who helps others as part of her duties as a princess. I would LOVE to see more books with Leia as the main character. And let's not forget some Rey books too! Girls can love Star Wars too!

This book is absolutely adorable. My cousin is pregnant with her first, a girl, and is going overboard with a "princess theme." Everything's pink, Disney everywhere, it's kind of nauseating. I'm slick slipping her this book at the baby shower. But since this stars Princess Leia, it's not at all about being saved by a Prince and wearing fancy dresses. It includes a storyline rife with lines like, "A Princess protects her people. A Princess stands up for what's right. A Princess stands up against bullies," and so on. I love that it celebrates strong feminist themes, and I hope my newest family member learns a lot from it!

I had high expectations for this book and I'm excited to say it lived up to them. Blending together positive messages that young kids can understand with iconic imagery from across the entire series of Star Wars films that parents will surely enjoy, this little book sets a standard on what to expect from a princess. This is a must have for any parent that loves Star Wars or any child that loves princesses.

My 3 year old son is obsessed with Star Wars books. We had the Little Golden book set of books based on the movies. We recently bought the rest. This book has less words than books based on the movies. It is much easier to read at bedtime or as a quick read.For those who are not Star Wars fans, it gives some of the backstory in case you haven't watched the movies. This is also short enough that my one year old will sit through it as well.

I bought this for my nearly-4-year-old for Christmas and she loves it. The story is cute and easy for her to follow and she loves to see the different-looking creatures and discuss who they are and whether she thinks they look like good guys or bad guys. As a mom, I also like how it shows her a different kind of princess that she's used to seeing in movies.

I'm not sure who loves this book more-- my daughter or me! We actually ordered it twice since the first one got wet. There is a laser gun mentioned in a page taken from an Episode 4 scene in case that might bother anyone. We've watched all of the movies so it didn't bother me. I'm so happy that Leia is a Disney Princess now! This book has an empowering message for girls, big and little alike.

Our family is a Star Wars family and our little girl is at an age where we wanted to read to her. This book looked perfect because it shows that princesses are not just about fashion and getting the "perfect man", but to be able to save others as well. I was always a fan of Princess Leia and now my daughter is too. The book is small, but I love it! For those who are interested in Star Wars and want to read to their little ones, or have them read it themselves, this book is perfect! I highly recommend purchasing it and I will be purchasing similar books to these in the future.

My toddler daughter loves the book because it’s a Star Wars book. However as the parent who reads and rereads the book, it is very poorly written. The author is constantly changing the persona. I think they forget if they are writing 1st or 3rd person, or if it’s a book on princess facts. I’ve relinquished the fact that it’s very poorly written and continue to read it. I am hesitant to buy further Golden Books though.

I normally tell people to skip Prima guides because they are usually very poorly written, but this guide is a definate exception to that rule! Not only is it a treasure trove of information (much of which was left out in the previous PMD: Time/Darkness guides), but the data tables are actually alphabetized this time! Truly, it's an excellent guide with lots of useful information including dungeon item drops (and rarity), wild Pokemon levels (including listing in the Pokedex ALL dungeons in which each Pokemon is found), beautiful extra artwork (wonder orbs and seed art are scatter throughout the guide), and of course the essentials (like evolution data, storyline, Pokedex, etc.). I don't normally leave glowing reports on guides these days (since the end of the NP guides), but this one surpassed my expectations. If you are looking for a good guide for the PMD Explorers series, this is the one to buy. Trust me, I have them all, and this is by far the best. The only small thing I would point out as akwurd for veteran players is that they alphabetized the Pokedex instead of listing by national Pokedex number. This seperates the evolutions, but makes the guide much easier for a newer or younger player to use (those who are not as familiar with the national Pokedex numbers).In short, it's a really nice guide, very well written, very informative, and very nicely laid out. My kudos to the staff! (I hope the same team gets assigned to the HeartGold/SoulSilver guide and will apply the same kind of thorough and organized skill to its production.)Signed, PamelaPS: For those who don't know, this is a strategy guide to a video game (specifically "Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky"), not a storybook. It's intended for those who like to know every detail about the game so they can plan out advanced strategies, catch every Pokemon, and/or find all the items. It's not really something you could read to your child at bedtime, since it's primarily data tables and charts listing elements of the game.

Great book.Has data on every dungeon and what type of critters you can expect to encounter in them.Lists the level ranges of the enemies, even tells you if and when advancing past a certain point in a dungeon the enemies will change or level up.Every Pokemon encountered in the game is cataloged and details what moves they can learn, what level the moves can be learned at, their abilities, recruitment rates, and shows where they can be recruited as well since some can only be recruited in very specific areas.Also includes a full walk-through of the main campaign and the post-ending storyline as well as indexes and lists for nearly everything in the game.The layout of some things seems a bit disjointed, for instance Pokemon are all listed alphabetically rather than by their Pokedex number, but all in all this was a great buy.

This is one of the greatest guides! By any Pokemon fan I mean ANY. This is a great guide for the mystery dungeon game or you can use the guide in the back for other games. In the back, it has a guide that tells you what level a Pokemon learns moves and when it evolves. (If the Pokemon needs a special item, the list won't have the item that the Pokemon uses to evolve in the other games.) This is an amazing guide and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

While the story is a grand adventure, and beautifully told, it also asks you to question faith and acceptance as well as the power a person has within them when they focus less on material things and instead on their own potential and the things they hold true. The story flips the script on a traditional fairy tale based in old Europe by telling the story of Fatima, a concubine, and Hassan, her friend who is gay and possesses the ability to bend geography with his mapmaking skills. The Inquisition is moving south through Spain, and conquering land of people with different traditions and faith. Fatima and Hassan flee and as they are pursued by Luz, the Inquisitor, they decide to search out the island of the Bird King, a tale begun for them and told out in many ways by them over the years. Along the way they have assistance and resistance from jinn and a Breton monk. This is an absolutely beautiful story.

Having read the tale The Conference of the Birds in my teens it is a joy to read this story set in a historical.period where the world's of Islam, Christianity and Judaism.intersect. The story is told thru 2 outcasts and is bisected by this old Sufi tale. It is a story of awakening. It is a story about courage to be and to love.

Delightful in many respects, with a story that carries one along, turning pages as smoothly as the ships that sail through its pages, this novel is also infused with a very dark and untruthful aspect that I alas found thoroughly disheartening.The tale takes place at the end of the Reconquista, the long recovery of Spanish territory from Moorish conquest, which began with the Umayyad invasion of Hispania in 711 and at its peak included most of the Iberian peninsula and a large chunk of southern France.Iberia's Christian rulers drove most of the Moors from their lands in the 13th century, with the liberation of Cordoba in 1236 and Seville in 1248, respectively. From beginning to end, that Moorish era was so full of murder, plunder, enslavement and debasement of non-Muslims that Maimonides, the great Jewish physician and philosopher, fled Spain and subsequently provided some choice descriptions of the horrors of living under Muslim rule.Those who want a realistic picture of the history should read Richard Fletcher's Moorish Spain.I definitely enjoyed this book, as well as the characterizations.But the history presented here is as fanciful and false as the magical jinns who populate the story, along with the royal concubine and a lowly but extremely talented mapmaker.It's fiction, and the history is purely fiction as well.

I admire this book more than I like it. It features solid prose, an interesting and vividly drawn historical setting, realistic characters, and some very enjoyable fantasy elements -- Vikram the jinn being the greatest of these -- but ultimately it didn't work for me because I had no idea how the author intended the conclusion to be understood. Maybe that matters not at all, but it made for a muddled reading experience. [Spoilers follow.]The bare outlines of the plot involve Fatima, a royal concubine, who is forced to flee the Emirate of Granada in its last days after the Inquisition comes calling and threatens her best friend, the cartographer Hassan. Vikram aids them in their escape and they end up in a mysterious place described as 'an idea with a location.' They have many adventures on the way, and Fatima (unconvincingly) changes over the course of a few weeks or months from a melancholy but self-centered individual into someone who repeatedly risks her life to save her friends. The chief antagonist is Luz, a lay sister working for the Inquisition. There is also a nameless evil thrown into the mix, which may or may not be responsible for some of Luz's more outrageous behavior.I don't think adding the Nameless Evil to the mechanisms of the Inquisition was a particularly good or necessary move on the author's part; the 'Holy Office' was plenty bad enough on its own. Still less is this useful if the Evil's presence was meant to be exculpatory in any way. And then there's the ending. Let's create a haven from the nastiness of the world, admit a few lucky travelers, and then close it off forever from other desperate refugees in order to ensure our survival? What?Here's hoping that Ms. Wilson's next novel will focus on Vikram. You can tell she loves writing the character, and he's by far the most interesting thing about this book. I would recommend this novel for its depiction of a time and place you don't see much of in historical fiction, but be prepared to come up against some really disconcerting plot elements.

I ordered this book after reading Jenny Han's other series To All the Boys I've Loved Before, which I loved. This book is really poor in comparison. The characters are flat and seem very cliche. I didn't feel connected to any of them or really care what happened to them at all. I usually don't mind a slow plot in novels, as long as the characters are well-drawn and engaging. But this book had almost no plot, as well as flat characters, so by the time I got to the end, I didn't care what happened. I had planned to read the whole series, but I'm so glad now I waited to order the other books. I won't be reading more.

This book was a pleasant surprise to me. I was recommended to read this back in college, and I just kept putting it off. I am not sure why, but I did not know what this was truly about and wished I picked it up sooner.I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. I am not a huge fan when stories jump from past to present, but it did not bother me too much in this one. It might have helped that I listened to the audiobook.I figured out the heartbreaking scenes from the beginning, but I still ended up tearing up during the big reveal.Overall, I really enjoyed this and will definitely pick up the next book….especially with that ending.

The pages are filled with passion,sadness,confusion, and loss.The words are written in the perfect way to have your heart pumping and aching for the same kind of love story.You won't find any other book with the same heartwarming kind of writing.This will make your heart melt away making you hold your breath until the and , then leaves you with more emotions. I highly recommend this compassionate book to anyone with a pink heart.I love this book and ill always will.

I read this book after reading Jenny Han's "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" which I adored, but this book really flat in comparison to that one. I found it extremely shallow and to be blunt, a fairly boring story. I still finished it sure, because having read another Han novel I thought maybe there was more to come…not so much.Although it was a short, shallow, simple story it took me a few weeks to get through it just because it was dull. Nostalgia factor, eh… character quality… boring…. overall plot? Already asleep thinking about it. The kindle edition has a preview to the next book in this series, which I didn't realize was series quality, but ok I read it anyway and it was still no better than the original.I would not recommend reading this book, although I finished the book it took me awhile and I was never excited to pick it back up, rather I was excited when it was finally over!

I just want to put a disclaimer on this series to let you know if you are thinking of reading it, it will leave you feeling REALLY dissatisfied in the end. You will read all 3 books waiting for the ending that will never come...or it comes in the form of a few pages pretty much as an epilogue. The story you are waiting for and WANT to read about just happens in summary form. It's really frustrating. So be warned!!The first two books they build up one of the characters, making him seem like this amazing guy, even though you know ultimately she is attracted to the other brother. Then she finally gets with the amazing guy and everything is perfect, only for the author to completely destroy the character that you have grown to love. It REALLY made me mad. Then she pushes you to want Belly (I hate her name btw, I don't care if it's just a nickname) to go with the other guy, who in my opinion, never did anything throughout the series to ever make you want to root for as a love interest. I perhaps could have been persuaded to like said guy if them finally getting together wasn't a summary at the VERY END of the last book.But I did read all 3 books so I guess I liked them enough for that. But if I would have known how they ended, I probably wouldn't have started to read them in the first place. It's not a BAD ending, there just isn't enough of what you have (supposedly) been waiting for for THREE books. I need more than just a summary in a few pages at the end. Disappointing for sure.

I'm sorry to say I did not love this book. I gave it two stars because I did finish reading it. Otherwise I would have given it one star. The main character is so amazingly self absorbed and there is such a lack of communication between everyone. No growth in the characters….. I just kept reading thinking it was going to get better and things were going to be worked out. Or that it was going to get better and it just didn't. I just don't love books that go that route.

I loved the characters in this book and the sweetness that is Belly Fisher. I loved the descriptions of the summer house and the days that never wanted to end. I just wish it wouldn't have ending so abruptly. It's like the editor sliced it in the wrong spot or something and just wants us to read the next books. Well, I would've read them anyway, but I like my endings a little sweeter.

So I thought this was going to be so lighthearted and cutesy and then boom! It gets so real and heartbreaking and yet so beautiful. Jenny Han’s writing is impeccable and the storyline superb. And I have to note, being a Virginia girl, having my favorite rollercoaster mentioned just makes me love this author so much!

This book not only provides a translation of the surviving reports by Egeria of her travels to her fellow nuns at home in Spain but contains a commentary on the context of her travels, other contempraneous sources and an analysis of her descriptions both of the lands visited and on her accounts of contemporaneous liturgy. Egeria travelled to the Holy Land and Egypt from about 381 to 384 AD. Her accounts are a welcome antidote to modern "scholarship" suggesting that the New Testament statements of fact and the location of events are somehow recent inventions. There are also surprises. Egeria relates as if it were commonplace that she was escorted at times by detachments of the Roman Army. She also describes a liturgy of mind=blowing length and complexity but which still resonates with the modern Catholic litiurgy.

An excellent book, if you wish to understand pilgrims to the Holy Land in the 4th C. I highly recommend it,

During my research on the Christian sites of the Holy Land, the name "Egeria" surfaced. I located this book on Amazon and when it arrived, I found it to have a wealth of information. This pilgrim kept a detailed diary which she sent to her "Sisters." She is very specific about the sites and liturgies of the Holy Land. Any one looking to learn more about the spiritual devotion in the Holy Land will enjoy this book. Since her diaries were lost, this partial account is all that exists and it is fascinating to read. Further research links her to St. Sylvia.

John Wilkinson's translation of "Egeria's Travels" provides a thorough account of Egeria's 4th century pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The travelogue is addressed to Egeria's contemporaries, likely nuns or learned women, who can follow along with the pilgrimage in spirit. Accordingly, Egeria documents the physical and spiritual aspects of her pilgrimage, noting routes and staging posts, but also liturgical details. A close inspection of "Egeria's Travels" reveals how her sense of the land is shaped by Biblical history, and how the Bible serves as a marker of authenticity for the sites that she visits. Egeria's tendency to link scripture with place is evidenced in her visit to Capernaum, which she describes as "[where] the house of the prince of the apostles has been made into a church, with its original walls still standing. It is where the Lord healed the paralytic" (97). Because the original walls are still standing, and these walls are mentioned in the Bible, Egeria is satisfied in the authenticity of the site. Egeria's linkage between scripture and place also extends to geographical sites. For instance, after describing Capernaum Egeria writes, "And this is the field where the Lord fed the people with the five loaves and the two fishes" (97-98). In this way, Egeria makes geographical features become distinct and infused with meaning, as the land is shaped by her sense of the multiplication miracle. The original landscape is now seen through an emotional lens because of this Biblical connection. All in all, Egeria's writings offer a detailed travelogue, but more importantly show how the pilgrim's sense of the land is formed by Biblical history. In studying pilgrimage, we must realize that sites of pilgrimage have been selectively identified and infused with meaning based on historical accounts, the marker, and the pilgrim's belief in the marker.

This is an absolutely fascinating book! I'm actually in the process of re-reading it! The amateur archaeologist/theologist in me, is jumping for joy! Nowhere in literature do we get a 1st hand pilgrims account, of the typography of the Holy Land, architectural description, and the liturgical detail, of the early Christian church. This book is a true treasure for all inquisitive and faithful seekers, wanting a realistic peek into the Holy Land, in A.D. 381.

Weinman plans to update this book annually, which is both a warning and sign of an interesting phenomenon. This is one of the few books for which I've not hesitated to purchase the 2nd edition, and won't feel resentful purchasing a third. The new version adds so much to the original and makes so many improvements, it's keeping the subject alive while at the same time keeping pace with graphics tools that have a lot of new functionality to offer. Word processors have pretty much evolved as much as they can at this point in history, but graphics tools are still making some big leaps and offering some exciting upgrades. Weinman has devoted herself to keeping pace with the change and promises to persist in adding value to each new edition. From the looks of her first revision, she'll keep the promise.

This is a classic must have book for any Web Designer or Graphic Designer. This is a great reference guide to keep close by when designing for the Web.

I find that all of Lyndas books are excellent. I have been able to create some wonderful pages on my own by using her examples and following her easy to understand guide lines. There are a lot of Web Design books on the market, and most of them say the same things over and over again. With Lynda's books I know she's telling it like it is in the most easies format possible. Everyone wants to be a star on the internet, and Lynda tells you how to get there the simplest and yet the best creative way possible...Thanks Lynda for be a great source of help and inspiration....

I own several of Weinman's books and I find them all very helpful. The most useful part for me is the non-dithering colors by hue charts (she also maintains these online). Even if the colors in the book don't exactly match what comes up on the Web, I can get a close enough match with the hex codes she provides. Overall I think she produces a very good series. I have to keep my copies under lock and key at work because they tend to "walk" otherwise. I mention Weinman's books in both of the books I wrote. That should be good testimony!

I read this book and the HTML Visual Quickstart and I was set to segue my print experience to the web. We all owe Lynda thanks for the browser-safe CLUT, as well as her clear, concise explanations about designing for display on a myriad of browsers, screens, operating systems, etc. What makes this book even more exceptional is the wealth of advice on creating graphics that load quickly, on understanding the quirks of HTML and using them to advantage. Even a math-phobic like myself can make sense of, and apply hexidecimal color theory to the creation of web graphics. This book will be of great benefit to the professional and amateur alike.

I am a full time professional web developer (both visual and web programming) and as far as the visual side goes, this book is a bible. I have never seen a book of such depth on web design. It explains all the web stuff you need to know, and even some nerdy stuff, like how GIF and JPG compression works so you can make images that compress very tightly. I suggest you buy the newest version of this book.

I am not without being in an arm's length distance to this book. It is a reference book for me that I use constantly. I appreciate the author's expertise and conciseness in explanation as well as the visual layout of this book. The series that this author produces has never let me down. If you want to start somewhere start with this one.

Outdated -really old!

While there's nothing in this book that you can't find on the web already, it's a big comfort having it all down on paper and within easy reach. I must look at this book two or three times each day - I'd be lost without the colour tables and combinations. Every web designer should have a copy (I know some who need it BAD!).

I'm giving this 5 stars because it is everything it claims to be. But my son got two joke books at Christmas: this and "Laugh out Loud Jokes for Kids" by Rob Elliott. At 7 years old, my son likes this book, but prefers Elliott's book to this one because this one contains a lot of things he doesn't understand. In a year or two, he'll likely prefer this one, as it has much more content and far more variety, but if you're considering which of these to buy, perhaps a 9-10 year-old would prefer this, but a 7 or 8 year-old might prefer something a little simpler.

I like this book. There is a large variety of content. The thing I don't like is the print color. It's light blue and green. The light blue is a bit of a strain on the eyes because of the lack of good contrast.

Got my 8 year old a bunch of joke books for Christmas as he loved a few others he’d gotten at the library. This was the only stinker. Yes, kids joke books are bad, this one is plain just not funny. Even my son said “these don’t even make sense”. Don’t waste your time.

I made the mistake of buying this for my son. From the moment he got it, I have not had peace. The jokes are easy to ready and funny to kids, for adults, they are groaners. (Well some were funny to adults as well)My son loves this book, and can barely get through a joke without laughing.I gave this 5 stars because it was a great gift for my son... Not so much to me. (Pretend it is a drum set and buy for a relative)

There are really inappropriate jokes in this book. Like one about Terrorism. :(

Bought this for my 7 year old for xmas. He loves jokes and riddles, and thusly this book. Some of it was corny or mistyped, but all in all it was good for a young kid. I don't know if I'd recommend it for kids much older though.

Was very disappointed, it only has kindergarten jokes in there......

I ordered this for my 8 year-old godson. He had been asking me for good riddles and seems to really like this book.

Great book with great tips. Little out dated so some things have changed. But over all still very useful

Paddling Southern Wisconsin.Our first year paddling. Enjoyed the book. Found a lot of interesting areas to go paddling.

Very informative, lots of info on different rivers. already lined up a 4 day trip. I would recommend this for anyone interested in kayaking S. Wis.

This exceptional and consistent trail guide offers eighty-two different sections to paddle on thirty-two rivers in southern Wisconsin, flexible enough to be made into day trips or overnight camping trips. Each stretch of river highlighted is done with great attention to what needs to be known and little information seems to be left out. River segments are treated similarly, the number of miles are stated, the launching and landing points of access are described, where camping, rentals and shuttle services are available (just phone numbers are supplied), the general gradient (rate of descent) in average conditions, other places to paddle within the chosen area, notes of history, full page maps and many small but nice black & white pictures. A detailed dialogue of each trip is also given, providing a sufficient idea of what to expect around the next river bend.The book has a very thorough introduction that doesn't overlook the crucial skills and dangers to be aware of. I am a patent attorney so I bought this book hoping its something I could recommend to my clients most of which are small inventors and most of which want to license their invention rather than build it and sell it. There Is a section on patents in it and well you are entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. The author talks about the 17 year life of patents. That hasn't been the case for almost 20 years now. Its 20 years from filing. The author gives an explaination of first to invent however we are a first to file country now. His Explaination of a "poor man's patent" is just incorrect and his explaination of what a provisional patent application is and what needs to be in it is just wrong too. He keeps using the term provisional patent but there is no such thing. A provisional is only an application designed to shift when the 20 year term starts. while I am not a licensing expert I see licenses all day long and companies don't pay license fees for a product that their competitors can make for free. Seriously how much would you pay for a license to a product that your competitors could sell without the license fee and actually charge less for the product than you have to pay. I can't vouch for the entire book and there may be some things in the book that are correct but based on the things I work with every day this book is way off base. I certainly cant recommend this book. There has to be others that do a better job than this. Did everyone notice that with all the positive reviews there is not a single review that says...I used the information in this book and actually used it to license a product. I think I know why.

Awesome read...as newly entrepreneur trying to create my invention without any money or business connections...the author really has written a well instructional book to guide entrepreneur in saving money, reliable resources, presentation ideas, ways to connect major retailers or distributors, and etc. Easy to understand and very inspirational...inspires you to start up your business and imagine being on top of the world!!!

I'm recommending this book to anyone with the dream of living well through licence an idea. Inventing or die... Or be a slave.

The title is misleading - not hard to think this is a get-rich-quick book. In fact it is very helpful for anyone that wants to license an idea. It discusses how to prepare to pitch your idea, how to contact people who might be interested, and how/when you might need to protect your invention.

Best book on the topic I've read so far. Lots of to do lists. Very USEFUL. Thanks.

both lighthearted & informative. using this book as a guide I now have 2 products to market . My original book was dog-eared & highlighted . a treasure.... but I loaned it to someone & it never came back. purchased this copy to replace my old one .

This book is a great book for learning to license your ideas. It is easy to follow and very down to earth. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to invent a product and go down the path of licensing their product.

Fast shipping and good general knowledge but had hoped for far more specifics.
