"Rachel's Tears: The Spiritual Journey of Columbine Martyr Rachel Scott" by Beth Nimmo and Darrell Scott with Steve Rabey is a story written by the parents of Rachel Scott who was killed in the shootings at Columbine High School in 1999. It was done by two of her fellow students, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, who despised the school and the students and wanted revenge. After her tragic death, they found journals and other writings that showed them that their daughter had an intimate relationship with God. The journals also showed her true feelings and her emotional view on certain situations. Rachel's parent’s share her writing and their experiences in this book to help others who struggle with faith. They also explain Craig’s experience at the shooting, since he was their other child who was involved, but unlike Rachel, lived to tell the tale. After reading many of her journals, they realized that Rachel's relationship with God was like none other. In fact, it was so strong that they that she knew that she was going to die young. They realized that Rachel was brutally honest with God in her writing. She expressed doubts about faith, but she always trusted God. Rachel’s used kindness and love to smother the evil that accumulates in the world, which is one of the main lessons that I took out of the book. The reason this book is such a must read is because of all the lessons and inspiration you could take from it. It forces you to have compassion and realize that sadness and sorrow can be surpassed no matter what the situation is. Rachel’s parents, despite being traumatized by the death of their young daughter, decided to look at the bright side and share with the world Rachel’s thoughts in her journals. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.
This is a very emotional book, probably the most emotional book I have ever read, and was not one I could read in long stretches at a time because it is both depressing and as a father the facts and circumstances of the underlying tragedy at Columbine make me very angry: you will go through just about every emotion possible in the spectrum possible in this book, with the predominant theme being depressed, anger, and helplessness combined with compassion, admiration, and many more.This is not a "martyrdom" book as the non-purchasing negative reviews have pointed out, this is a book of a young woman's compassion, kindness, and beliefs and from the excerpts of her journals that were included in the novel really more a roadmap on how we should live our lives - the adults in the room can learn a lot from this young woman. Rachel Scott was taken too soon from this world, and we certainly need more like her.
I loved this book! This book made me take a hard look at my life. I was in tears much throughout it. I am 37 and was a senior in another high school in Colorado when this tragedy happened. I remember vividly where I was and what I was doing when I a teacher told the class what happened. I am so glad I read this book. I gave me a new purpose in life -- to be compassionate and kind like Rachel was. She has become my inspiration to be a better person and better Christian. I hope to see meet her in Heaven someday and tell her how much hearing about her stop really affected my life. She said she wanted to change the world. She has! If only there was more people like Rachel, the world would be a much better place.

I was very moved and inspired by Rachel's story and I love hearing about her and sad that she died so young. Still through her death, she was able to touch millions of people's heart and I also consider her a great role model.
This is an amazing book about an amazing person. Rachel heard God's plan for her life and she lived it. I recommend this book to everyone . Rachel Joy Scott had a dream to touch the world. She lived the dream and it cost her her life.
Rachel's Tears is both life changing and emotionally gripping. A heartbreaking and inspirational true story. A must read for young and old.
