This book is a compilation of American Indian proverbs and prayers. Since I am American Indian, this book soothes my soul. I buy this book on a fairly regular basis for special friends of mine. Very uplifting, and we all know that we need all the uplifting we can get these days.

I first saw this book in an office I visited weekly. I was drawn to it each time I waited for my appointment. The Native American proverbs within gave me inspirational satisfaction, Now that I own it I can go to it whenever I want to hear something short, but meaningful. There are many sayings for me to reflect on, example: "Seek wisdom, not knowledge. Knowledge is of the past, wisdom is of the future." In a few words, "The greatest strength is gentleness."

Well, if you ever wondered where did we come from and how our evolution has been affected, reading this book will add even more questions, but also shed some light to these questions. You will wonder, who/why the Dogons have these "myths" (to me, the definition of the word "myth" is "history that wasn't written down because at the time there was not writting, but was kept alive from mouth to mouth") and celebrate the arrival of their ancestors. It will make you question HOW an African tribe knows and talks about Sirious. And even more important their knowledge of the hidden star SIRIUS B, knowledge preceding modern science! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did...

The mysterious knowledge of the Dogon tribe of Mali come to life in Scranton's work. How is it possible an ancient people knew of the Sirius star system long before modern tools/technology existed? Laird covers this mystery and many others in his page turning work.

While abed with that cough everyone had in February, I couldn't do much but watch Netflix and Hulu Plus, where I found a short but startling series called "The Pyramid Code." Now, I've always hated the Von Danikens and Ancient Aliens Guys because even if their conclusions should somehow happen to be true, they have no sense of what is and what isn't evidence, their arguments are invalid, and they can't make their predicates and subjects agree. Also, I've always felt with Zahi Hawass that to claim that extraterrestrial help was needed to build the Pyramids is to demean HUMAN intelligence. (After all, it was the Stone Age, not the Stupid Age.) But "The Pyramid Code" introduced me to geological, astronomical, mathematical, electrical, and linguistic arguments that were actually ARGUMENTS, and so fact-based they made the orthodox narrative look like fabrication. So, since I was too sick to walk to the library, I ordered this e-book and read it within a few hours, thus enjoying both an immediacy of gratification and a remarkable hypothesis which, true or not, is both entertaining and worth entertaining. I'd recommend it to anyone who prefers their spookiness backed up by facts, not by wild speculation. In fact, this particular hypothesis is always welcome at my gatherings, because he is not only entertaining, but also very civil when hanging out with hypotheses that contradict him.

Gave me a new perspective on our traditions and what we are capable of as a people!

I really enjoyed this book; and how it showed the correlations of many civilizations. I suggest anyone that is curious about the origin of the world;should not hesitate to read this book.

Ive worked with the majors and the independents and have experienced both sides of "safety programs". I have no doubt that I will use much of the information in the years to come. This book helps to provide a little perspective as far as safety is concerned. Its also quite funny! Company names and company MENs names have been changed in clever ways. AND tagged "something" high up hole days after running an RBP....lets beat on it!!!!..........classic! This should be required reading for everyone in this industry. This book is gentle and supportive, and aimed at women who are dealing with emotional blockers in intimate/sexual relationships, and at their partners. (If you are confident and happy in your sexuality and looking for "new ideas", or dealing with complex medical issues, then you can probably skip this book.) Nagoski encourages a kind, mindful, nonjudgmental approach to exploring sex. Her writing is repetitive, but I feel that the repetition serves a purpose: she is targeting women who feel beaten down or lost, who need to hear over and over again that they are ok, they are not "broken," and they deserve to be happy and feel good. Nagoski introduces topics that range from casually interesting, to extremely vital to the health/safety of our society (ie. Arousal non concordance). I just wish there were more advice about practical action steps to change the things we want to change. Hopefully there will be a sequel.

Come As You Are is absolutely the best sex book I've ever read. I used to buy so many trying to figure out how desire and arousal worked and while I learned good things, this was the book that felt like a warm hug that explained everything and how I could make this work for me. What I did not expect was to learn so much about my brain, and how *exactly* that was connected to sex, and why feeling joyful and content in life in general applies to sex specifically. I'd heard that sex and life were intertwined; the whole "it's all connected" but it never made sense until reading Emily Nagoski detailing HOW and WHY.So all of Emily's blog posts come to life in this book, and every time I re-read chapters, I feel like the science connects in a deeper way. She covers attachment, sex that advances the plot in relationships, emotions, and mindfulness, just to name some topics. My favorite part of the book was learning about how the brain interprets goals and effort, and how you can use that to your emotional advantage to make life easier. (Also, this applies to road rage!)I'd also always read that imagination was a big part of creating a better sex life, and this is the first book to have really sparked my curiosity in a way that I'm intrigued about sex. (I've had painful sex and avoided it for years now, while still desperate to find out how to make things work for me.) The way I think about sex and the way I feel about sex have been transformed after reading Come As You Are. Instead of comparing myself to friends' stories about sex, lately, I'm actually interested and find myself musing on how things work for me to feel so confident and excited about sex. I've come a long way from feeling that I have SO far to go to enjoy sex, to feeling jealous and inadequate when friends talked about sex, and thinking that I'm obviously not the goddess they are because I don't have those stories. That transformation alone feels therapy-huge, to have come from such shame and fear and sadness to curiosity and intrigue.I'm pretty sure Emily is also the first sex educator I've noticed that used empathy to write little notes to the reader about their struggles. I cannot tell you how many times I've re-read those paragraphs on her blog and in this book, because it was exactly what I'd needed and never had anyone else say before. Emily GETS it. And I'm so thankful she realizes the power of what she's teaching, so this book could be possible. I really think every person alive could learn something and feel more at ease in their relationships and with sex, just from reading this book. Her blog is a refreshing on its own, but this book feels like a week at the spa. Thank you, Emily.

Not only does it fulfil my “student” needs in regards to being able to learn from a clinical perspective, but it also fulfils my womanly/wifely needs too! Not only does she write using science and facts, but she gives such detail and simplistic terms that anyone can understand! Emily, a blog writer, covers so many great topics in this book that really detail the “Why’s” behind sexual arousal and desire. She covers many topics including emotions, mindfulness, attachment, and the science behind how the brain works! Her joyful writing style really makes this an easy read and is just so entertaining!On a personal level, I really transformed my own feelings towards sexuality. Instead of being so clinical about my own feelings and emotions, I’m becoming more interested in finding what I enjoy about sex. Obviously, my husband isn’t complaining either 😊Whether or not you have intimacy concerns or any type of sexual dysfunction, I truly believe that everyone can learn something about their own relationships and sexuality. I originally bought this because I had recently purchased one of Warhol's prints and thought it would be cool to learn more about the history of it. After I received it though, I found myself poring through it time and again, reliving the genius of warhol over and over.This documents practically every known work of Warhol's, from his early days sketching shoes to his later, more famous works of celebrities in the 80s. Some people will assuredly buy it for it's coffee table bling, but if you do so, please do yourself a favor and read through it ad really enjoy the works of one of the world's most prolific and revolutionary artists.

Every serious art gallery that sells Warhol artwork owns this book. It explains the details of his artworks and lists print quantities and nuances in the print series. Some of the pictures are pornographic, so it's not for younger eyes. A must for any pop art afficianado.
