I have suffered from severe scalp psoriasis for 14 years. I have very think brunette hair, making my scalp particularly hard to treat. After trying every medicine under the sun, both prescription and over the counter, the only thing that ever worked for me were injections. I was on Enbrel from 2009-2011 and then Stelara from 2011-2013.When I decided to get pregnant, I had to stop all of my meds. Pregnancy kept my symptoms relatively at bay, but postpartum, my skin erupted, and fast. I had lesions in places I'd never seen them before. 90% of my scalp had thick lesions and perhaps worse, I had 4" lesions around my nipples, making it very difficult and uncomfortable to breastfeed.I came across this book on Amazon while shopping for alternative treatments. Due to the compelling reviews, I figured I'd give it a shot. I followed the system nearly to a "t" for the first 3 weeks. I did not do any hydrotherapy or home enemas, but I did a 2-day apple cleanse, cut out all sugar, white flour, nightshades and coffee, and began a regime of Slippery Elm Bark tea in the mornings and lemon water throughout the day. Since then, I have stayed 100% off nightshades but have reintroduced very limited quantities of white flour, sugar and decaf black coffee.Within one week the lesions on my nipples were 90% gone. Within two weeks, the lesions on my body started to fade. Within four weeks, 75% of my body lesions were gone. As of today, which has been about 5 weeks since I started the regime, my scalp and body are 95% clear. I am honestly in a state of shock. I feel like telling everyone I know about Pagano's theories.A couple notes:** I found sea salt baths to be helpful as my body healed itself. Pagano recommends epsom salt baths (using 4 pounds of salt!), but I had read about people having success with Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, so I tried that instead. SF Salt sells it for a really great price.** I used a topical prescription treatment to help speed things along (Clobex spray), but I plan to stop using it in the next week or so as I get closer to 100% clear.** I found Burt's Bees Miracle Salve to be a great product for my nipples. I had to avoid all medications in that area due to breastfeeding.** I discovered that my baby's Burt's Bees Baby Shampoo & Wash worked really well for my hair and scalp. Plus it smells delicious. I have since switched to the adult version of Burt's Bees Shampoo and think the gentle formula has been a welcome change for my scalp as it heals.** Pagano recommends a pretty large list of supplements. I couldn't commit to the whole list due to personal preference and breastfeeding, but I have been taking 1000mg Flaxseed Oil, 200mg Milk Thistle, a pre/post-natal multi-vitamin (contains Zinc and Vitamin A), and 100mg Colace (stool softener). Instead of taking an additional 1000mg of Fish Oil, I've just been making it a point to each fish at least 4 days a week.To anyone considering trying Pagano's 'diet', I urge you to not be afraid of what seems like an overwhelming list of 'to-do's' and 'not-to-do's'. I have found the diet very easy to follow and actually quite fulfilling. It's been nice to be cooking again and eating more healthy foods. Pizza has been hard to give up, but when your skin clears up like mine did, you won't feel too bad about missing out on a slice. Seeing amazing results sure makes the regime seem a lot easier to execute.I am so grateful for discovering this book and I encourage you to try it if you're a psoriasis sufferer.*I am a real person who actually bought this book on Amazon and have not been compensated for this review.*

About 5 years ago I started to develop psoriasis on my finger tips that slower progressed down my hands, but at the time my dermatologist believe that it was eczema and not psoriasis. I had never had an issue with either of these growing up before this all started at the age of 30. After 3 frustrating years of creams, lotions, pills, and UV ray treatments that seemed to do nothing and the what was believed to be eczema continued to spread down my hands I visited another dermatologist who mentioned that it might be psoriasis but her only suggestion was to take methotrexate as a way to help mange it. I even did a skin patch test that came up mostly negative, and also did visited a holistic doctor who did a blood test to determine what foods might be causing a problem, and I later realized the test missed the eventual cause. Not knowing that it was a steroid that started to drain me of energy as we up the dosage and it started to freak me out that it's original use was for some forms of cancer. After about 2-3 months of the drugs and researching psoriasis instead of eczema, I did a google/amazon search for natural healing which slowly lead me to this book. After reading through the book in 5 days I quickly realized what had caused my issue to develop.... Night Shades and more specifically peppers!! I had never eaten peppers up until about 6-8 months before this all developed and in the book Dr. Pagano points out that peppers can be poisonous to certain people, and in my case I was eating almost 1 bell pepper a day. After one final flare up before finishing to book because I had eaten something spicy in all my meals, I cut out peppers from my diet completely and have avoided other nightshades. I'm happy to say that now after almost 15 months, my hands are about 75% healed and have had only minor irritation since cutting them out. It's been a long process because we use our hands for everything and I'm pretty active on a daily basis which can damage the new skin. Overall, I would suggest any one who has psoriasis to read this book and really examine what you put in your body because something that might seem healthy can cause damage.

OK- I purchased this book 3 weeks ago. I have been suffering with Psoriasis for 20 years (I am now 57). My affected areas do not change at all- large patch on upper leg, patch on shoulder and all through the scalp (which is the worst!). I have read through the diet section of the book and made a commitment 16 days ago to completely change my diet as directed. Amazingly, my scalp is about 70% clear in such a short time! Leg and shoulder only showing slight improvement but not really to be expected for 90 days or so. Bottom line- this "appears" to be a life changer for me. Your are what you eat!!!! Don't suffer any more- make the commitment and see the results. I will update in about 30 days.Update 9-17-15: after following the diet "somewhat" for 10 months I can say my psoriasis is greatly improved. My scalp is about 50% clear. The large patch on my leg is not much better. A patch on my shoulder is about 50% cleared up. No new patches have surfaced and I am not laying in bed itching like crazy anymore when trying to get to sleep. I will admit that I am not following the diet 100% by any means. I basically cut out most foods with preservatives, alcohol (I do have a couple glasses of wine on the weekends), diet coke (used to drink 2 per day), most refined sugar, pasta, shellfish, red meat, night shades and all fried foods. I am not drinking any of the suggested tea and still eat a fair amount of wheat bread (can't live without it!). Hope this helps you too!

Forde does not ramble on. In a quick read he dissects the Heidelberg Disputation. He states the thesis and explains it succintly. I have read reviews saying that it is repetitive, but tat is Luther not Forde. Luther was trained in jurisprudence in Scholastic and Humanist Germany. The way of building an argument is to build on previous statements. There is repetition. Its a sales tactic. You get the customer to say yes to all of the little questions so that the big question is less of a leap. Luter discusses the differences between theologians of glory and the cross only after talking about what a theologian is. This is a nice sort read, barely over 100 pages. Easy to read in an afternoon or few sittings. It is may come as a surprise that tis, not te 95 Theses is truly what set off the Reformation. A great resource for the academic and the layman!

The Heidelberg Disputation (1518) has a great deal more to offer than the 95 Theses. The church--pulpit and pew--needs this message. The theology of glory (in all its forms) is what the church sees, knows, does. The Theology of The Cross is the biblical, God-honoring, Christ-honoring alternative and must be recovered. Read this and learn about the real Martin Luther.

If you want to know the seed of the Protestant Reformation through the preaching of the gospel, read these reflections on Luther's 1518 Disputations at Heidelberg. Everybody knows Luther for nailing 95 theses in Wittenberg on October 31st 1517. However those 95 thesis ar not theologically relevant for Christians today. The best was yet to come. After that event the Pope Lion X asked Gabriel De Volta, General of Augustine Monks to rebuke Luther and to finish the controversy. Instead of doing that, they invited Martin Luther to Heidelberg to explain his beliefs. Based on the Bible and Augustine teaching, Luther prepared 28 theses which he called paradoxes to explain his theology. Gerhard Forde comments on those 28 theses grouped by these topics: "The Problem of Good Works" (Theses 1-12); "The Problem of the Will" (Theses 13-18); "The Great Divide: The Way of Glory versus the Way of the Cross" (19-24); and finally "God's work in us: The Righteousness of Faith" (Theses 25-28). This is one of my favorites theses by Luther: "The law says, "do this", and it is never done. Grace says, "believe in this", and everything is already done." (Martin Luther - Thesis #26).

After having spending my whole life in the church (I am 67 years old) Born raised Catholic, then Baptist, then Charismatic, I found myself secretly angry at the God that those faiths proclaim, I spent a couple of years silent before the paradoxical God that I thought ruled the universe. My son started attending a Lutheran Church, as he learned more of Luther's thoughts and shared them with me, I initially was indignant, and thought he was too simplistic in proclamations. But every time we talked I heard the Gospel from him, and it drew me away from myself to the Gracious God that Luther hunted for, and found.I started reading everything I could put my hands on, Next to Hans J. Iwand's book entitled "The Righteousness of Faith According to Luther"Gerhard Forde stands out to declare the explosive nature that turned Christianity around in the 16th century with Martin Luther. He has the ability to proclaim the thoughts of Luther (which were the Thoughts of Paul the Apostle) clearly and to the point not backing off. with human reason and deliberation. The Gospel is God's word to us from outside of us and is to be "heard" not deliberated in the courts of our own darkened minds.(inside of us)This book is not another slant on theology for us to consider, instead it has Proclamation at it's core, "Believe it or Not" The Just Shall live by Faith. Faith comes by the hearing of the Word. How shall they believe unless someone is sent.

This is a short book, but not a quick read. Forde comments and reflects on Luther's Heidelberg Disputation of 1518, and the result is one of the best Christian books written in the past 50 years. One of my frustrations with reading Christian works in the modern era is that they all say the same thing, over and over again. Not so with this book. For me at least, there were some very real moments of insight, conviction, and repentance. I considered myself a theologian of the cross in many ways before reading this, but Forde (and Luther) have used Scripture to shine a brighter light on areas that need to be changed. One of the ideas that dawned on me for the first time reading this is that only Christians can truly experience suffering. It is a profound idea in my mind, and well worth the cost of the book."The cross cannot be considered therefore as one option among several in our attempts to see God. The cross shuts down alternatives. It destroys the wisdom of the wise. It blinds the sight of the theologian of glory. What is revealed is precisely that we don't know God. Our problem is not that we lay claim to such little knowledge of God but that we think we know so much." (79-80)Highly Recommended.
