Reading this wonderful book is richly nourishing in the monastic wisdom that guides the seeker in finding the presence of God in the everyday living of life. Whether performing the most humble of tasks or simply seeing the face of God in the neighbor, marvelling at the complexity and beauty of the creation around us and so much more, corporate, communal worship then flows into the weekday world and sustains that presence in a healthy, non-compartmentalized spirituality. This is a book that deserves to be a part of daily reading as it is timeless.

This is one of my favorite authors of spirituality. She says a lot with few words. This book is a terrific daily devotional. There is a chapter for every letter of the alphabet, so reading it over and over again is easy to do on a monthly basis. By the end of a year of continually reading this gem of a book, the characteristics she writes of should be pretty well ingrained within a person!

I am using this as part of a daily meditation. It's essentially an A-Z of spiritual / contemplative principles and each day I read one letter of the alphabet. It is also a helpful reference when I am struggling with a specific area to go and re-read that section. It is therefore also an extremely helpful tool when working with others as you can jump to the concept most relevant. Have also used it for a small group reading and discussion where we each shared what passages spoke most to us from the section being discussed and then discussed those.

Thoughtful, beautifully written and so many entries can be applied to every-day life. Helps the reader see the "holy" moments that we often miss in life---and also those moments not-so-holy that we need to work on weeding out.

For those of you who just want a little something to read now and then, or daily for a short period of time, this book might fit the bill. Chittister spends a couple pages from A to Z on various thoughts, qualities, and aspects of monastic life. Read a little or a lot...choice is up to you and how much you want to "chew on" for that day. Nothing burdensome...

I like Tyler, he does what a kid would do during a tragic time such as this.Kinsey is a young girl who is going through a bit of an identity crisis. She is slowly trying to discover who she is.Bode, the youngest of the Lockes, somehow manages to keep his whimsy during all of this. He has an active imagination, and maintains a strong sense of wonder though out all of these stories.Keyhouse is now my favorite setting for a story. This manor is massive, beautiful, and filled to the brim with mysticism.If you are looking for a book the pulls no punches, is beautifully illustrate, and has an amazing cast of character, all while being kind of scary, then you have found your next read.GET IT NOW!

I bought this for a graphic novel book club for adults, the subject was on Horror. It does build around mystery and suspense as well as the supernatural when a family suffer a loss and relocate on the other side of the country for safety. Cryptic clues about special keeps and the paranormal abilities they unlock to person who uses them. It had some disturbing moments...and hard to believe this was created by the son of Stephen King. I guess horror literature does run in the family.

Locke and Key is a dark-fantasy comic series. Some producers have apparently been working on adapting this into a movie trilogy.In this volume, the other members of a family witness the patriarchâ€™s murder and move from the San Francisco Bay Area to a new home in New England. However, not only is the disturbed teenaged delinquent on his way, but thereâ€™s also something strange in the neighborhood if you catch my drift. Let me just say that keys are a central plot device as the title implies.The artwork for the characters doesnâ€™t quite meet my own taste as it leans towards the cartoonish. Even then it is certainly technically competent and, most importantly, highly expressive. The scenery is beautifully detailed. The â€œcameraâ€ angles really aid in the telling of the story.Speaking of story, for all the seemingly predictable tropes, it actually becomes rather disturbing, haunting, touching. It really shows the pain that the members of the family go through after a horrible loss. It also draws out the drama from the emerging phantasmagoria quite effectively; the interaction between the human and the spiritual is the key here (the pun was not intended, I promise). I may download more volumes soon.

When I bought this I thought there might be parts explosion diagrams (they have an electrical system rundown in the back, why not the rest?) for various sections as well as basic repair steps. It basically lists steps for several basic and intermediate repairs for your vehicle. Some things like shocks and brakes it recommends you get a professional to check them out afterwards (maybe they would charge less?). I have watched too many internet videos to find this book overly useful. Maybe 25 years ago this would be your best option but the internet has better options. I guess blue collar work still needs to be mysterious and magical or customers wouldn't overpay for it.

I have been using Haynes manuals for a long time but a family member recommended Chilton's manuals. So I bought this one for my 2005 Matrix. The rear brake drum assemblies are completely different. I don't know if GM used a different one and that's what's in the picture but it wasn't very helpful and I had to figure it out on my own which was not fun. I don't know if the Haynes one is better because I haven't bought it yet but I think that the last thing that I want a service manual to do is to send me looking for another.

If you are rebuilding the engine I guess this would be good. I wanted to replace a vacuum motor in the heater system. Nothing about this stuff in the book. Not very good for the " shade tree mechanic".

It has turned out to be quite useful, but do agree with some others however, it seems that they cut some corners when writing this book. It is however essential to have, or a better quality shop manual to work on a car. I rated it based on price vs. usefulness.

I can't comment on the quality of the instructions in this manual because I never opened it. I purchased it to use with my Vibe GT, but (fortunately) read the back cover before removing the shrink wrap. I was highly disappointed to read this sentence near the bottom of the back cover:"Does not include information specific to all-wheel drive models, Matrix XRS models or Vibe GT models." Oh well.[...]I'm just disappointed that the product description on the website wasn't more precise.

it's got a good guidelines and steps to follow to those who need a step by step procedures. But I suggest you take some basic Auto mechanic classes to get a better understand of a vehicle first. It just makes more sense when you know what your getting into first.

Five stars so far, have not had a chance to use it on my sons car yet.

Very easy to read and understand. Made it easy to fix a few minor things on my Vibe that would have cost me a LOT at dealer! Paid for itself!

Using Albert North Whitehead's linguistic creation of the idea of 'prehenson', Shoop makes her case that what happens to us in life is cut deep in the grooves of physical memory. Our bodies know what has happened to us before our minds are able to analyze it.Shoop uses three experiences - rape, pregnancy and motherhood - to move us through a theological reflection on the worship life of the Christian Church.In reading her book I became aware for the first time intellectually why it is some things are difficult to explain. Some experiences can only be danced - tragically or triumphantly; they simply cannot ever be adequately described.

Powerful theology of the body and how to heal

This was perhaps the most interesting book I've read all year..Shoop tackles three different areas, rape, pregnancy, and motherhood and then develops each one in terms of tragic bodies, relational bodies, and ambiguous bodies.She then talks about how each of those embodiments encourage compassion, interdependence,and adventure.As a man I felt a bit uncomfortable at times reading LET THE BONES DANCE, but the author's call to involve our bodies in all of worship is a welcome one, and certainly a needed one.Well worth reading.

Mount-Shoop takes a terrible sexual violation as a young teen and a long debilitating pregnancy as a young wife to shape a construct that is very useful not only to feminist theology but to all of us and many situations. She maintains that violence and tragedy have the potential to make a person compassionate; pregnancy comes from relationship and fosters intimacy; motherhood creates ambiguity but amazingly ambiguity forces one to be innovative. Compassion, intimacy and innovation are precisely what this world needs from each of us. Even people who have not been sexually violated can relate to tragedy; the same with pregnancy--even if a person has never had children if they have been in relationship they know intimacy. But the most profound conclusion is that raising children creates ambiguity. The genius of the construct is that Mount-Shoop asserts that ambiguity leads us to be innovative. There are so many things for which there is no evident answer or solution. Innovation is the only positive road to take.

Marcia Mount Shoop exploits a mountain of biological information to paint a picture of the female body (especially as it negotiates its way through rape, pregnancy, and motherhood), not as a well-oiled machine but as an ingenious, almost magical self that feels its way forward in an ambiguous,interdependent world and underlies the so-called rational,historical self. She poetically parlays the implications of this self into a theology of compassion, interdependence,and adventure, then offers a critique of worship in the Reformed tradition to make room for a new worship that involves more of the self she has sketched. Often her chapters are preceded by poems of her own creation, which employ stunning language such as a reference to Mary's cervix. Even those who have some acquaintance with feminist writing will find this book eye-opening.

Let the Bones Dance is a book of unusual insight drawn from the raw data of lived faith. It is a rare blend and balance of joyful deliverance and good humor. I've had aquariums successfully for many years. Part of my success I attribute to thorough research from both the internet and many books such as this one.This is a great book with limitations. Not all freshwater fish are included; 300 of the most popular species are included in this book. What is available is great info such as fish behavior, water conditions it needs, full size of the fish and more. I give this book five stars because it contains so much info that many other aquarium books don't. Many books don't tell you what water a fish needs to live comfortably in, this one does.If you are looking for a book that tels you what you need to know about a fish you are thinking of purchasing, or want to learn about what fish to buy for your tank, this is a good book to purchase.

This book is 6.25 x 7.25 inches. I like the size of it. It is full of pictures of each fish, gives a profile of the fish, its size, what it costs, what it eats, what water chemistry it likes, what temperature it likes, compatibility with other fish and many other vital facts about it. Covers about 200 varieties. A helpful reference for me. My 4 yr old grandson loves to look at the book with me. He is fasinated with all these fish. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially those who are interested in learning all about fish or planning to purchase some for their aquarium. For everybody else, it is just a fun and entertaining book.

This book is loaded with lots of facts about the most common tropical fish. It was a big help in planning my two small tanks. The lady at the fish store even said, "That sounds like a perfect selection for a 12-gallon tank. You have bottom, middle, and top level fish that all will work well together." I used this book and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Freshwater Aquariums and felt like the advice was good. You likely won't get the same advice at the pet stores or even the fish stores from any two people, so a good book is a useful tool. I wish I had always stuck with the book and waited longer to get the right fish, rather than listening to the nice people at the fish store.

Impressive that each section is written by an expert on that type of fish; Cichlids, Barbs, Live bearers, etc. Many old favorites plus some more exotic choices for the home aquarium. Good photos, easily understood information. A page per fish, with info and photo plus a few of the more popular fish have extra pages and photos. Perfect for kids, beginners and even old hands looking for a colorful reference. Much better price here on Amazon than buying at store. Very happy I got it to companion my old Innes book.

This book offers a convenient, quick reference for fishes. The images are very good and the bullet-point style is great if you are looking for something specific such as native origin or pH requirements. It would be nice if there were a bit more background text and such. This book is good for what it is intended for but it's page after page of fishes from front to back with no real intro or conclusion, etc.

After visiting three public libraries in my area and realizing I had more books on tropical fish aquariums then all three combined, I started shopping for new, updated books. I have a couple of books that are really good, but this one has become my favorite. As a total beginner, I wanted something easy, yet concise. This book has very complete information that others were missing and it's compact so I can bring it with me to the pet stores and quickly find what I'm looking for, while browsing fish. Highly recommended if you're just starting out. As a personal note, I no longer live in Guam. The libraries I visited were in somewhat rural TN.

Good book. Its only fault is that it does not list all the fish commonly found in pet stores but that may be because new breed fish are being added often. The book has all the information needed though such as temperment, type of water (ph, temperature, etc.). I reference often when shopping.

I got this book because I'm getting my son his first fish tank and I wasn't really sure what kind of fish to buy,Therefore I purchased this book. It's a great book but I only saw two fishes that I found that could be together because of the fish water temperatures, behaviors and food. But I probably will expand my fish tank I only have a 5.5 Gallon and most of the fishes in this book needs to be in a bigger fish tank with lots of plants. This tank is for a 3 year old so for now its 5.5 gallon. I would recommend this book if you have a really big fish tank.

My son has read this book cover to cover and is now quizzing me. This book has given him a very good knowledge base to start his first aquarium. The book covers all the essentials that are required to start and maintain a happy aquarium community. The price suggestions for the fish are not great as our economy has caused the pricing to fluctuate. As with any investment shop around. If you need a book with the basics on fish this is a good starting base.

Great book. Very excellent for those of us that grew up loving and cherishing 90's pop culture. The topics covered range from fashion trends (footwear like L.A. Lights, girl trends like scrunchies, etc.), toys (Beanie Babies, Furby's, Skip-It's), and much more, including movies, tv shows, sports (the Chicago Bulls!), etc. There's a lot of diversity here, and it's almost guaranteed that anyone of any age growing up in the 90's will find something they were fond of back in the day. Rollerblades, boy bands, pogs, tamagotchis, Goosebumps books, Power Wheels - it's just so much 90's goodness!The book itself is a very high quality print. Each page is thick, rich in color, and loaded with pictures. Chapters are short and can be read through in just a few minutes time (for the most part). Each write-up is fairly comprehensive and each section begs to be read and re-read over and over again. It's almost like flipping through a magazine. It even comes with an iron on transfer, a very popular gimmick magazines and such used to employ all the time.My one complaint is that the book would've been much more perfect if it were a large-sized coffee table book. And, although the book does a good job covering a lot of material, I really feel like it's only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to pop culture. There's a lot more that could have been covered, and a plethora of other topics just ripe for the picking. I also wish it covered more famous 90's events and news stories, but that's just me. Hope Amber Humphrey puts out another one of these!

90's kids, ready for an influx of nostalgia? Well, this book has quite the lotful to awaken the 90's in you. There's not only colorful text in the book, there're also pictures in it. Blossom's fashion, New Kids on the Block, Pogo, Urkel, there's so much 90's in here it'll take me hours to explain what to expect. Recommended for those who've lived out their childhoods in the 90's.

This one of those books you can read again and again. You walk down memory lane with it. I was born in 1983 and I am the same age as the author so, I remember everything she mentioned and it hit me at the same point in my life as it did the author. If you like thinking back to an easier time when Captain Planet was cool, Super Soakers were allowed and not thought of as a precursor to real guns, you spent your time watching Nick and Disney and loved TGIF then this is the book for you!

This is the 90's book I've been searching for. I've read a few other books about the 90's, some better than the others, but this is definitely the best I've come across. It's in full color, rather exhaustive, and funny. This is a book a recommend to anyone who grew up in the 90's and one I will definitely reread in the future. I hope the author will continue her work and write a volume 2.

This book is just ok. It could have had waaaay more info and better pictures. I feel like i could have throw this together myself in about 2 weeks :/

Hard enough to believe, but people have become nostalgic for the '90s and this book is crammed with a lot of the most-remembered pop culture of that era. Well designed, lots of photos and illustrations, great explanatory text.

I have loved beautiful poetry for most of my life. Even though I have read numerous poems written by Asian women over the years I only read a few poems from American women poets. When I saw this 234 page soft cover book (Great Poems by American Women: An anthology edited by Susan L. Rattiner) on Amazon for a bargain price I decided to purchase it.This wonderful volume has poems from a large group of excellent women poets. Some of the best female poets are included in this collection. There are poems from Anne Bradstreet, Ann Eliza Bleeker, Phillis Wheatley, Susanna Haswell Rowson, Lydia Huntley Sigourney, Sarah Helen Whitman, Harriet Beecher Stove, Julia Ward Howe, Fanny Cosby, Frances E. W. Harper, Emily Dickinson (one of my favorite American poets), Margaret E. Sangster, Katharine Lee Bates, Harriet Monroe, Gwendolyn Brooks, and many other excellent women poets.If you love poetry you should check out this fantastic collection of poems from American women.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Martial Art and Warrior Haiku and Senryu)

There are many interesting and beautiful poems in the book, the majority of which I did not know - I felt inspired to look for more work by some of the poets. But it is not a diverse collection. I have a hard time imagining that there are only five African American women poets worth publishing in the whole time the book covers, 1600 to 2000, heavy on the 18th and 19th centuries.. And there appear to be no Hispanic, Native American or other women from diverse backgrounds worth a spott. i hope that someone publishes a collection of poetry by a more diverse group of American women poets.

This is an extremely thin book and the paper quality is reflected in the low price. Still, it's an excellent buy for a whole lot of women's poetry at a really affordable price. It's a great book for the homeschool, bedtime read-alouds or as a stocking stuffer, or just to keep in your purse to read through and discover new poems and poets while waiting for the train or the kids or the doctor's appointment.

If you like poetry there is no way you could not like it except for that fact that it does not include enough of the well known & loved female poets such as Edna St Vincent Millay

This book spans more than three centuries of womenâ€™s verse and includes more than 200 poems from 74 poets. The book is organized by the birthdates of the poets and does not contain any living women poets. It is a wonderful collection of favorite poems that also includes brief bios...a treasure trove of words and wisdom.

These poems will stir your soul; If it were possible I would have checked: hopeful, dark, nostalgic, light-hearted, and thoughtful.

The book was concise, starting from oldest to newest. Very enjoyable, great bedside book. I bought another as a gift. You really can't beat Dover Thrift value.

This has a great collection of classic poetry in it. The book has many more pages than I had expected. Great deal and great value!

This book has 290 pages and deals with "How to" start a landscaping or an outdoor business. The nine sections in the book provide a step-by-step guide for a person new to business. The author set out to provide detailed instructions for setting up a landscaping/ lawn business and succeeded in doing this.After reading this book, the reader will have more than enough information to know how to start and run a business.I found this book to be very informative and recommend it for the following reasons:- if you are in the landscaping business or trying to decide if that is the business for you, then this book will show you how to shop for the right equipment, provide you with information on the procedures and practices required in starting your new business. The case studies in the book provide information on how others have built their businesses. If you are not in the landscaping business, this book provides you with great information too. You can skip Section 2 which deals Landscaping as a business, and use the outstanding information in the remaining sections. Information such as: characteristics of a small business; the book talks about, "Passion" being a prime ingredient. A successful business is "more than a business to its owner". It encourages you to know yourself before you start a business, and to plan for success while branding your business.This is simply a great book for any person interested in starting a business, any kind of business -outdoor or otherwise.However, I feel that the title of this book may prevent business owners in a different niche from purchasing it, because they may assume that it deals specifically with starting an outdoor business, which unfortunately is not the case at all.I rate this book as a 4 star.
