I love this series. It is fast paced action from beginning to end. Sasha is learning to control her visions and begins to rely on her instincts more. Sasha is asked to fulfill the debt to Baba Yaga by doing something that she is especially resistant toward. To force her Ariel is kidnapped and held hostage until Sasha frees her with Felix and Vlad. There is a bloody battle that results in Sasha calling Nero for help. After she agrees to work for Nero again she discovers some very interesting things about her past. And then suddenly it ends and now I am anxiously waiting for the next book. I’m not sure how much time has passed since the first book but every minute of Sasha’s life has been action packed since she discovered she is a cognizant. Can’t wait. This series could go on forever!
This book takes place immediately after book 2. It is really just a continuation with both books taking place in less than a month's time. This book deals with aftermath of Sasha resignation from her job and Sasha's bargain with Baba Yaga. Felix, Rose, Vlad and Fluffster are consistent supporting characters in this one. I liked the expansion of these personalities. I found the imaginary dialog from Rose's cat Lucifer hilarious. Obviously the author is owned by a cat. The story has lots of action. Secrets are revealed at the end. The story will continue in book 4 and there is still much to resolve. Overall, I flew through this one and found it engaging and fun. Now I will wait for book 4.
I really like these book and even though it's told in present tense, I enjoyed all three of them. I usually stop reading an author who writes in this tense simply because it annoys me. Somehow the poetry of words just don't flow. He did a very good job, although sentences sometimes seem awkward. I love the characters in this book, they are beautifully designed. The story captures you from beginning to end. I have already purchased his next book and look forward to it.
Review of Reluctant Psychic, Sasha Urban Series: Book 3This third book answered so many questions and leaves us with no idea how the series will end. Reluctant Psychic is a wild ride. Sasha has run-ins with lots of nasty Cognizant’s from the earlier books. Not surprisingly we find out that Baba Yaga is not at all nice. And when Sasha refuses to pay the terrible price she demands for revealing part’s of Fluffster’s past. She kidnaps Sasha’s Room Mate Ariel. Holding her against Sasha’s compliance.A bloody battle ensues to get Ariel back from the powerful witch, and Sash out of her debt.At the end we find out a lot more about Sasha’s past and the connection that her boss Nero Gorin has with her. Leaving us with absolutely no idea of what will happen in Book Four.
What a great series. Original material flawlessly imposed over familiar tropes. Our main character's growth and faith is self has grown consistently throughout all 3 books. She is pretty fierce and very strong in this third book. Interpersonal mysteries are being uncovered and that process is fascinating. Her adjustment to her new world is challenging, as it should be. The series is action packed The author grows relationships steadily even with the rapid pace of the storyline. Highly recommend.
Sasha's past was hinted at. Her birth parents a mystery. Now some light has been shed and it is more than she bargained for.Very rich world building. The story is evolving and best of all the characters are not getting watered down into meaningless filler.Ariel has been forced to come to terms with her addiction. Felix is finally stepping unto the sunshine.The fight scenes are riveting gunfire and hand to hand. Don't forget the Zombies.Anxiously awaiting the next installment.
This is the third adventure of Sasha, a member of people in a a phantasy sci-fi blend mix in a New York universe. I would recomend reading the first and second of the series, otherwise you might be very disoriented by the many back references. That said, I can highly recommend the work. The book is well written and with lots of action, and the characters are very endearing. I have already pre- ordered the next volume.
This third book is even more intense than the previous two. And they blew me away! There is so much going on that I found myself taking short breaks just to get my head around all of it. There's lots of fighting and blood letting, and I'm beginning to feel a little bit friendlier toward the vampires in the story. But the last revelation really threw me for a loop! I have to know where this story is going! It's keeping me awake!
