This book is simply amazing! I hadn't know of Paul Freeman's work until just recently and now I am a huge fan. This is male photography at its best! The men are natural, not posed-looking and don't necessarily look like "models." They are not clean-shaven and all of the same size. I have now bought every one of his books and I can't recommend this book (or his others) more. One of THE best male photography books on the market! The costumes are kind of fun and they actually accentuate the true beauty of these men.
HEROICS exceeded my every expectation.This is not the picture version of your9th grade Latin textbook. This is a realman's visual of sweat and emotion seenthrough the Greco-Roman venue. Typicaland exception Freeman photography withall the shadows and the light at just theright angle--and oh, the bodies strippedto gladiatorial rawness. I have alreadyordered and received through Amazon other works by Freeman from his "Bondi" series.Great works and Classics about to becomea classic!
I must admit to a HIGH level of prejudice where this artist is concerned and I make no apologies for it. Paul Freeman's name was unknown to me until January 2012 when a dear friend of mine in Austria sent me this work as a gift for my birthday. Now I own EVERY volume of his artwork. The man has NO equal in male nude art photography. His models are the most beautiful, rugged MEN on the planet and Paul's genius is finding them and placing them in front of his lens. His work draws the viewer into his world and makes us part of that world. Heroics is a departure from Freeman's previous works like the Bondi series or the Outback series. Heroics takes his models and stages them in period costume from Roman times to Napoleonic. These photographs are unbelievable--NEVER contrived. Although different from his other work, it is definitely Freeman. The cover photograph is indicative of what's inside, but many surprises await the viewer!! This volume contains some of Freeman's most beautiful, hairy, rugged men to date and many of the photographs are full frontal and erect. You won't be disappointed with the variety of the men nor the inclusion of the abundant frontal shots. But rest assured; Freeman's art is never pornographic, but it is erotic. If you never own but one male nude art photographer's work then it should be Paul Freeman's. I regard his art so highly, that I purchased this book as a gift for the same friend who gave it to me over a year ago!!! You can't get a better endorsement than that!!! I didn't give this book 5 STARS for nothing. It is a piece of photographic genius with a magic all its own. If you own just one of his volumes, you will purchase them all. He is just that great--ENJOY!!!
The book arrived in excellent condition and when it was suppose to. The templates in black and white and in color are excellent. I have really been very happy with it.

Stunning Male Imagery. The models are gorgeous of face and body and the costuming very "behind the scenes" of that's how it could have been...A book you will revisit frequently.
The pictures are beautiful and contain content that spotlights heroic figures as well as photos that do as much while blending the historical costumes and modern scenes. Well worth the money.
