3 starsI purchased a copy of the Amish novella The Perfect Bride: Amish Countryside book 33 by Sandra Becker and this review was given freely.{Philadelphia' green Market}Amos's plans to marry Hannah meet an end when her first love {Lancaster based} Caleb professes his continued love for her in front of the congregation. The continued quest for stability, family and a wife lead him back to Lizzie in his home area of Strasburg, Pa. Unfortunately, in his quest for knowledge he offends Lizzie who has been secretly in love with him. Fraught with misunderstandings and a lack of communication this short novel provides you with the struggle of newlyweds as they try to adjust to each other and the their new married roles.
Amos has the reputation of a good earner and a good Amish man. After a disappointment in his hopes for a relationship with Hannah, he goes to talk about it with his good friend Lizzie.Foolish man does not seem to understand tat Lizzie could feel any hurt at his expressed feelings for Hannah - not grasping Lizzie might hold some hopes of her own. He does get smart enough to ask permission to court Lizzie and they wed in short order.While Lizzie tries her best to be a good bride, Amos holds back much of himself and his feelings. Meeting the object of his former affections, Lizzie finds herself ignored and scolded by her husband, and decides to leave the marketplace - stepping in front of a car.Only when he hears that his wife and the baby he did not know about will be okay does Amos bother to say his I love yous to his wife.I find this much of their story arrogant and annoying.The dutiful wife and her hopes are sweet.
