There are certain realities and truths in Scripture that are often ignored in both the pulpit and private studies among Christians. These realities and truths are usually controversial and mysterious. In fact, the reason these difficult doctrines are controversial or include controversial elements is because of the mystery that so often clouds understanding. Doctrines in this category include, predestination, divine sovereignty and human responsibility, and the person of the Holy Spirit.I have heard the Nicene Creed paraphrased in these terms: “We believe in God the Father…and we believe in Jesus Christ His Son, but we are not so sure about the Holy Spirit.” Sinclair Ferguson set out to buffer this tendency in the lives of so many Christians and churches in his theology of the Holy Spirit. Rather than tracing the theology of the Holy Spirit historically, although he references many Reformed thinkers throughout this work as he forewarns his “indebtedness to [them]” (12), Ferguson relies primarily on the inerrant canon of the Old and New Testaments, taking them at “face value” and as the “only reliable foundation on which to build a theology of the Holy Spirit” (13). From the outset of this book, it is made clear by the author that in the chapters to follow, there will be heavy reliance on the Word of God to develop a correct and edifying theology of the Holy Spirit. In a manner of confident humility, Sinclair Ferguson exposes and explains in detailed terms both the Spirit’s identity and work.In chapters 1-4, Ferguson outlines and describes the identity of the Spirit in the Old Testament (chapter 1), the life of Christ (chapter 2), and in the coming of the Spirit at Pentecost (chapters 3 and 4). The work of the Spirit in the outworking of redemption is discussed in chapters 5-8. In this section of the book, the author unfolds themes such as the Spirit’s work in uniting believers to Christ (chapter 5), regeneration (chapter 6), sanctification (chapter 7), and communion with Christ (chapter 8). Chapters 9 and 10 describe the corporate aspect of the Spirit’s work by outlining baptism and the Lord’s Supper (chapter 9), as well as giving attention to spiritual gifts (chapter 10). Ferguson closes his theology of the Holy Spirit by defining His work in the world at large and finishing up with an appropriate eschatological focus on the Spirit’s role in final resurrection and the new creation (chapter 11).EvaluationFerguson gives attention to points that are vital to a theology of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, faithful to his goal, Ferguson traces not only along the lines of biblical theology, but also within the framework of a redemptive-historical paradigm to argue for the deity of the Spirit in Trinitarian light.The heart of this book, especially in its first half, is the relationship between Christ and the Spirit. Ferguson argues that the Spirit is most fully revealed in the incarnation, life, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. In fact, Ferguson makes the case that the doctrine of union with Christ is a work of the Spirit accomplished through regeneration and all who have the Spirit living in them have the Spirit of Christ living in them. His section on pp. 103ff concerning an exposition of union with Christ is remarkable. He grounds the salvation of the Christian in the “salvation” of Christ. The benefits of justification, adoption, sanctification, and glorification belong to the Christian as a work of the Spirit in uniting the Christian to Christ who was delivered and redeemed from death by the power of the Holy Spirit” (104).This highly Christological fervor is present throughout the book, which greatly accompanies and accents the redemptive-historical and biblical-theological flow of the book. Instead of understanding the Spirit in charismatic actions and “outpourings”, the Spirit is being presented Christologically. In order to understand the Spirit, Christ must be understood. Thus, the application of the work of Christ is beautifully exposited in chapters 5-7, particularly in chapter 5, with a concentration on ordo salutis. Here again, Ferguson is faithful to the oneness and plurality of the Trinity.Ferguson also spends time in chapter 10 interacting with Wayne Grudem’s position concerning prophecy. In light of a cessationist position, Ferguson respectfully and convincingly disagrees with Grudem’s position of lower and higher levels of prophecy. In chapter 10, he expresses his concern that Grudem’s position is lacking much biblical foundation hence his opposition to his position.Bias?The heavily Reformed nature of Ferguson’s personal theology is felt throughout and if it does cloud his vision at all, it does not affect the reliability of the work as a whole. This is not a comprehensive historical theology of the Holy Spirit (as stated in the Preface, p. 12) and therefore must be treated for what it is; a tracing of biblical-theological and redemptive-historical evidence of the person and work of the Spirit from a distinctively Reformed position. With this in mind, Ferguson’s Reformed position does not hinder this particular work, but greatly enables it and in fact gives it tremendous reliability for all wanting to study Reformed thinking on the Holy Spirit.One DownfallThe only downfall that I experienced in this work on the Holy Spirit was its seemingly brief handling of the gifts of the Spirit. While handling the more pressing issues of baptism, the Lord’s Supper, prophecy, and tongues, Ferguson seems to give little attention to the other corporate dimensions of the Spirit’s work, namely in other spiritual gifts. I was so engaged in his arguments on the other gifts that he left me wanting more. However, this slight “blemish” does nothing to the overall worth of the book.ConclusionIn closing, The Holy Spirit, is a dramatically relevant book rich in faithful exegesis and rooted in biblical theology, which is set upon a redemptive-historical rock bed foundation. This is a God-glorifying book that gives an accurate and compelling picture of the Holy Spirit from a heavily Reformed and biblical perspective.

This is a scholarly book, but I haven't found it to be an interesting one--yet. I set it aside and will pick it up again in the Fall. Perhaps it lends itself better to cool weather reading. The book is well organized, the writing is clear, the references and notes are considerable, and the author is obviously knowledgeable. I was looking for a serious book about the Holy Spirit, one not fanatically evangelical, and this seems to satisfy those requirements. I read a lot of enthusiastic reviews of the book on different sites, which is why I selected it. While I can't join in others' enthusiasm, I can see why it would appeal to those studying Christian theology.

Sinclair Ferguson's biblical-theological treatment on the Holy Spirit is a rich and sumptuous theological feast for any serious-minded believer who wants to know more about the so-called "shy member of the Trinity." In eleven meaty chapters, Ferguson gives a comprehensive, if not exhaustive, biblical overview of the person and work of the Holy Spirit, all along the way drawing on historical theology and charitably interacting with perspectives different from his own.Chapter one, "The Spirit and His Story" surveys the Old Testament's more shadowy teaching on the Holy Spirit with a careful biblical-theological approach. "The Spirit of Christ" (chapter two) is an exceptionally rich chapter on the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus. Christ is seen as the quintessential "Man of the Spirit." Because his entire life was lived in the Spirit's power (Ferguson starts with his conception and moves through the various aspects of Jesus' life all the way to exaltation), Jesus is now the "Lord of the Spirit" (2 Cor. 3:18) - the One who sends the Spirit to his church to reproduce the "human holiness" of which he (Jesus) is the pattern.This moves into the next two chapters, which focus on "The Gift of the Spirit" and "Pentecost Today?", exploring the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost and its significance in redemptive history and for believers today. "The Spirit of Order" (chapter five) discusses the ordo salutis (order of salvation) and how the Spirit applies the redemptive work of Christ to the individual believer. This is an excellent chapter which focuses on union with Christ as the central motif for understanding how the Spirit applies salvation in our lives. Throughout both this chapter and the entire book, Ferguson writes with a solid understanding of the inaugurated eschatology of the New Testament, allowing the "already/not yet" tension to inform his treatment of the various aspects of the ordo salutis (i.e. justification, regeneration, adoption, sanctification, glorification)."Spiritus Recreator" (chapter six) discusses the Spirit's role in the new creation, while the next chapter, "The Spirit of Holiness," explores his role in sanctification. These were two of the most helpful chapters in the book for me personally. Ferguson maintains the Christ-centeredness with which he began the book as he shows how the Spirit reproduces the image of Christ in believers through his definitive act and progressive work of sanctification. Also very edifying is chapter eight, "The Communion of the Spirit," which deals with the personal ministry of the Spirit in the life of the believer as seal, firstfruits, and earnest/guarantee.Chapters nine and ten talk about "The Spirit and the Body" and "The Gifts of the Spirit," the former discussing the role of the sacraments under the Spirit in the life of the church and the latter addressing the issue of spiritual gifts - with Ferguson taking a firm, though gentle, cessationist position. His critiques of Wayne Grudem deserve careful reflection from all who hold a continuationist perspective. The final chapter, "The Cosmic Spirit" discusses the Spirit's work in what we might call common grace and points us forward to the eschatological fulfillment of the Spirit's work in the world.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned much from it. Ferguson's articulation of a Reformed view of the Holy Spirit is intelligent and persuasive. Theologians, biblical scholars, pastors, and serious layreaders would all benefit from this book.

I bought this for my daughter to read. She has several of these reader books and enjoys them. I think this is her favorite by far because she loves to study sharks ever since there were two local shark attacks this past summer. Most of her other readers are fiction. She enjoyed learning more about sharks and I like the fact she is getting practice reading. It has great pictures and lots of info. We both enjoyed it and will continue to read it!!!

I was a child of the early 80's, and this was my favorite book as a small child. I bought this for my 5 year old son because I thought he'd appreciate it just as much. First off Bony-Legs is way creepier than most villains in children's books nowadays. She looks like a complete creeper. She's a great character. Secondly, despite this is meant to be a bit creepy, it has a good message....that being kind and caring about others really pays off.I have to say that the illustrations are awesome. I flipped through the book numerous times just to see the illustrations I remember from my childhood. Such cool pictures.Anyway, buy this book!

The first bookI checked out from the library...I've searched for years to have a copy of my own, and having it in hardcover makes it seem even more special than the paperback I once held. As soon as I opened it I sat down and read the story to my son, scary witch voice and all. He enjoyed it too...it was wonderful to see his suprize and excitment over the parts in the story that were always my favorite as well. Thank-you! Whoever it belonged to and had to part with it, whoever took the time to package and send it, and whoever delivered it safely back into my life....Thank~you.

I can’t believe I got a copy with the original book cover!! It’s used of course but I was thrilled when I got it. I used this very book to get all 4 of my sons & now grandson interested in reading!! The book arrived on time & made a new little boy like reading! Girls like this book just st as much btw!

My 4 children grew up with this book and I read it to them often. I kept the one I have but now that they are having children, I need 3 more copies as I want all of my children to have a copy to read to their children. This copy is in the condition I expected as was described. It is a bit worn but that shows that it was appreciated and used. Just like my original copy. I gave it to my son to read to his son and he was thrilled. Very happy with my purchase and it was delivered in a timely manner.

That would be the season of Halloween! It's unfortunate that this book is out of print. I recently purchased another copy because my original is showing it's 33 years of age and use. Many think the book is too scary for children; after all, Bony Legs is a witch who has iron teeth and likes to eat children! Never fear! Sasha outwits the witch thanks to the help from new friends who help her because of HER kindness to them (always a good lesson to learn!). I also like this story because it reminds me so much of traditional Russian folk tales with the 3 challenges that must be overcome. I always get repeat requests from my students to read this one again and again!

A great easy reader for a young reader. Read a few pages a day in the beginning but soon it was quickly finished without stopping. Good facts about Sharks and great for emerging readers.

My son is currently 6 years old and in 1st grade. He was able to read 98% of this book on his own (a little easier than expected). He was very interested in this book and it did a good job breaking down the point without going into too much depth which would take away his interest.

Love the information but not the size wish it was larger book

This pleasant, informative collection is easy to pick up, thumb through at random, and set aside. The 350+ pages divide into five major chapters, almost all of which follow the same structure. A short, essay, somewhat under a page, starts each section. That, plus the next page or few pages generally reproduce one famous artwork, usually painting. A few callouts on each page draw the reader's attention to some point of compositional or historical interest, along with date, creator, title, and owner of each piece. What this sacrifices in depth, it more than makes up for in breadth of topics, from the romantic to physical and classical to modern.The artwork is nicely reproduced on dense paper. This isn't a book for anyone who wants large-scale copies that display every detail of the original. Reproductions tent to be quite small - it's an undersized book to begin with, and images don't always cover the page. They offer enough to understand the general subject, figures, composition, and color scheme, but nowhere near enough to make out the fine points On the positive side, though, the editors cover a huge swath of art history, and introduced me to many artists I might not otherwise have known.As a sustained photo-essay on love and passion, I find it informative and enjoyable. But, if the art itself is your primary interest, this might not be what you wanted.-- wiredweird

I came across this book while waiting for the guided tour in Villa Medici; the book shop had a whole shelf of these series, wonderfully illustrated, and of course such a title required some browsing. I noticed that Domenichino's "Diana's Hunt" was there, and then later in the day, when I gazed at it in Palazzo Borghese, I remembered the book and resolved to get it, since the story on Domenichino's picture is quite convoluted. Stendhal poured more oil on the inflamed syndrome when he described at length the ardent desire Cardinal Scipione Borghese had for this picture, and how he finally obtained it by force. Such was the erotic power of his love for art!Coming back to Puritania, I found it easily on Google books; I was glad to see the aforementioned Domenichino picture nicely annotated, although the story is not as full as Stendhal tells it in his Promenades dans Rome. And here comes a shortcoming of this volume - although colorful and rich of images, the descriptions are not as detailed as I would wish. It is a pleasant guide to browse through erotically inclined pictures, but if you are interested in learning more about each work of art, especially anything before 18th century, you'll have to use other sources.The book is divided in chapters, and I am not sure about its target audience. It has separate chapters for Prostitute and Brothel, with the latter taking more pages than the chapter Triumph of Love. The author is certainly attracted to the former subject, as he placed another courtesan in the Bed chapter. I definitely would prefer to see more space given to Venus and Mars or Venus and Adonis in the "Famous Couples" section. Also one of the most hilarious subjects in art "Hercules and Omphale" is not included in "Famous Couples", although there is one great Boucher picture of the carnal lovers in the "Kiss" section. Jupiter and Semele, Jupiter and Antiope, Jupiter and Callisto, Joseph and Potiphar's wife, Amnon and Tamar, Helen and Paris are also missing from the "Famous Couples". I wish the delicious theme of "The Judgement of Paris" would also be present, but it's not.Your enjoyment of the book will also depend on how well you know art or what you expect to find. Since it is largely based on classical arts made largely for the discerning patrons, i.e. for people educated in classical literature and allegories, well-acquainted with Ovid, Virgil, etc. the book could come across as bizarre for an unprepared modern reader, although even such a reader would probably appreciate a few impressionist and other end of 19th/first half of 20th century pictures posted in the volume.For me it was pleasant to see many well-known pictures again, although there were quite a few I have never seen and it was great to strike an acquaintance. For example, Mengs' "Jupiter and Ganymede" was included in a chapter whose name I refrain to write in fear of being censored. This Meng's picture I did not know and it was certainly not on display in Palazzo Corsini a year ago - perhaps it was again considered too scandalous for our time. Its story is very well narrated in the book, which I think it is worth adding it to an art lover's collection.However, excellent Rembrandt and equally great Rubens were not included, possibly because Jupiter there was presented as an eagle, not a man, which would contradict the exhibition in the chapter with an unspeakable name. There is another chapter "Sex and Animals" but there is no single picture of Maiden with a Unicorn, something that I am sure would entertain female audience much more than some more sordid aforementioned subjects. I would much rather see any of the missing subjects I listed than a hideous picture of Lucien Freud "Man with a Mouse" - it's hard to understand for whom this image can be erotic or loveable. Maybe in Australia, where the picture belongs?For the sake of justice I should mention that the author did not restrict himself to the most popular images. The fountain of youth in Castello della Manta was a real treat; by sheer excess of curiosity I ended up seeing it on location in May, the castle is away from any major city, and I drove there from Saluzzo. Italy is full of hidden treasures, and the author is well-versed in Italian art. Perhaps the book could have more Northern (German, Flemish, Dutch) art from early periods, not just more modern and decadent George Grosz, Otto Dix and Egon Schiele.And there are no "I Modi" pictures by Marcantonio Raimondi, something for which Pietro Aretino, who wrote accompanied "Sonetti Lussuriosi", had to leave Rome and settle in Venice, making company to Tizian and other illustrious personalities. It is interesting to note that while both glorified courtesans, it is quite clear that they did not frequent them, keeping a small harem for private use at home. They were rewarded with excellent health and long life. For that reason, too, the "I Modi" pictures would be more pleasant to see than some ghastly images of Toulouse-Lautrec & Co. The author seems to understand that and he hints on "I Modi" by including a Banquet of Gods from Palazzo del Te in Mantua, where the Raimondi's teacher Giulio Romano (himself a pupil of Raphael) worked for the Duke of Gonzaga.With all this in mind, I give this collection solid four stars (taking one star off due to present Australian rats while missing European unicorns), because for a beginner it should be an exciting discovery, and the works of art displayed are of the highest quality, even if I disagree with some that were chosen for the volume called "Love and the Erotic in Art". This subject is the most personal and certainly no book with such title will possibly satisfy all. I include a few pictures that I mentioned in the "product title gallery", believing it will be beneficial for those who are suffering from Stendhal syndrome; the book is a good aphrodisiac for this pleasantly incurable disease.Highly recommended.

I simply have to chime in and give this book a fitting review, more than the shoddy one that's been posted thus far. This is a great book in the Guide to Imagery series - a series that deconstructs hundreds of artworks for their themes and symbolism. I also have the Food and Feasting in Art from the same series.This is a professional, detached review of love and erotic themes in the art world. It's detailed and lengthy, and about the size of a small, thick phone book. If you're buying this as a gift, it should be for someone already interested in paintings, history, and these themes. It's not meant as a lighthearted gift for a romantic holiday. Also, if you're easily embarrassed or discomforted, purchasing a book on erotic art is probably not the way to go. The erotic themes in here are the same that you can easily find in the Louvre or other art museums. It's a great reference book if you're looking to collect art, a student doing research on these themes, or finding works similar to others.

I got this for my wife for Valentine's Day 2011. Originally, I ordered her the book, "The Kiss" by Marta Alverez from the Getty Museum. When it became unavailable due to copyright issues, I sought out another Love/Art book. "Love an the Erotic in Art" seemed like a good choice, but there was no "look inside" feature anywhere as I shopped online for it. After I received it, I quickly realized this was not the book I was hoping for. There is some great artwork within the book, but I just want to make sure people know what's inside. While some is innocent, it eventually goes into the sexually disturbing. Violence, Beastiality, Sadism, humiliation, and even vampires. Not something you want in your head, when you're spending Valentine's Day with your wife.

I purchased another book at the same time that dealt with the same subject but was entirely dissatisfied in it. This book makes up for that!

I bought this book at about the same time as I sent parts on my engine out to the machine shop expecting it to help in the reassembly of the motor. I was very disappointed to find that the books version of rebuilding specs is to tell you to "torque to spec" with no spec table in the book to be found. what the book does focus on is components for modifying the jeep. The modifications are probably good options for some they too will need to look else where for the specifics to actually complete their builds.shot on overhaul info no repair info at least in the sections I was trying to use and short on detail for the performance upgrades that are promised.over all probably not as bad as I have given stars for but it is not advertised as what it is and it is over priced for what it is.

Guess this Book on Jeep Rebuilds worked for some folks but not for me. It has lots to help Jeep folks but I didn't find anything useful for me. The book was too expensive for one. Not nearly enough illustrations. I am putting together an ole 1974 Jeep CJ5 that has been hacked to pieces and this book was no help. But I would recommend it for folks who know nothing about Jeeps.

Really nice book, goes well with a chilton manual to really cover your CJ jeeps

I bought this since I was / am rebuilding a 76 CJ-5. It was fairly helpful on a few things, but skipped some details and the pictures are nearly worthless. I knew going into it that the book wasn't for my exact jeep, and that some of the information would be more universal / generic, and I was fine with that. The real let down was the pictures, they dark, poorly shot and almost seem like an after thought. Even if the pictures remained black & white, but were well taken I would probably have given the book 4 stars, color photos would have been better, even if the book cost a bit more.

This manual is very good for body, suspension, and engine overhaul. I was hoping for more detail with electrical and emissions (vacuum) systems.

Also lists supplements you can take and should take complete with a reason why you should take them.

In the first 1/3 of the book, Orwell gives a thorough explanation of the way that a variety of foods impacts the body’s functioning. Superfoods are those that provide balanced nutrition while preventing chronic illnesses brought on by poor eating habits. The best part of the book is the full-color recipes that make superfoods eye appealing, mouth-watering, and easy to integrate into a weekly menu. Quite a few recipes come with a Nutrition Facts guide, and most use ingredients found in average grocery stores, an important detail if you live in the boonies like me. I’ve tried out a few recipes that were definite winners.

It is a weight loss book for the most part, that doesn't mention a lot of Superfoods. It mainly focuses on everyday foods. But, there is a lot of good information.

About the Author

Ben Witherington III (PhD, University of Durham) is Jean R. Amos Professor of New Testament for Doctoral Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary. A prominent evangelical scholar, he is also on the doctoral faculty at St. Andrews University in Scotland. Witherington has written over forty books, including The Jesus Quest and The Paul Quest, both of which were selected as top biblical studies works by Christianity Today. His other works include The Indelible Image, Women and the Genesis of Christianity, The Gospel Code, A Week in the Life of Corinth and commentaries on the entire New Testament. He also writes for many church and scholarly publications and is a frequent contributor to Patheos and Beliefnet. Witherington is an elected member of the prestigious Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas, a society dedicated to New Testament studies. He is a John Wesley Fellow for Life, a research fellow at Cambridge University and a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Society of Biblical Literature, Society for the Study of the New Testament and the Institute for Biblical Research. He previously taught at institutions like Ashland Theological Seminary, Vanderbilt University, Duke Divinity School and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. An ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church and a popular lecturer, Witherington has presented seminars for churches, colleges and biblical meetings around the world. The Trilogy is a masterpiece for the aggressive God seeker. Individually, the volumes are superb; however only in the set do you get the grit and substance of the range and amplitude of the earliest churches in time and place, and among specifically Jewish temple Christians & `distant' Gentile grafts back in to the vine of God's grace.The "Letters and Homilies" under Witherington's masterful intellect describe the churches of men struggling to comprehend the unified essence of Jesus teachings to accomplish the one Church of Christ. The cultural chasms among the new believers have been underappreciated in our own time. In one generation, individuals of fierce cultural differences are witnessed to become unified under the one ideal of Christianity. There is no modern parallel to look back upon to compare the magnitude of the attraction to Jesus `cult' that lives on to this day.As to the trilogy, a straight through read is simply too daunting I think. I took a year and a half to complete the 3. Reading the entire trilogy is a different experience then the individual books. After thinking through it, the Witherington's approach to consider the specific natures of the audiences that heard these letters is profound. In total, the multi-authored Jesus message is amazingly and consistently coherent as the tiller of Christian ideals. The NT will never be the same to me after this slice from Witherington. I can hear a verse, and I can recall the context, the visuals, and sometimes the smells of the original as it was spoken.As individual books, they are an effective commentary of great depth. A negative is that for some passages, the commentary feels pedantic for lack of a better word. Not every verse is spring loaded for meaning. Witherington is a main stream Protestant church theologian. He leans towards analogy over literal interpretations. The reader will recognize this departures from your own theological understanding and you will decide veracity as you will. There's no `rapture' theology with Witherington. There is high order translation skill given Witherington's application of state of the art increasing knowledge of 1st century Greek in context.

Ben Witherington's series of socio-rhetorical commentaries on Paul's letters to early Christians has only recently been discovered by me. It would not have occurred to me to group these particular letters together from a socio-rhetorical standpoint but Prof Witherington's work sheds a whole new light on matters for me. This series is well worth considering whether for formal study or simply personal research purposes

Excellent commentary. Dr. Witherington sours once again. I am intrigued by Dr. Witherington calling the General Letters "homilies." I'm preaching through James right now and am finding this commentary very helpful. Highly recommend this book and others by him.

From an evangelical pastor's perspective, I have to say that Ben Witherington III has to be one of the most interesting Bible scholars alive today. He is fairly conservative, and he grapples with the text in intelligent, informed, and logical ways. He asks the right questions, an area in which many commentators fail.Witherington brings in the Jewish context, the Graeco-Roman context, and adds rhetorical insights. Although I sometimes disagree with him (I believe in Sovereign Grace and embrace views even more conservative than his), Witherington is my favorite resource after the text itself.

This volume joins “Letters and Homilies for Hellenized Christians” Volumes 1 and 2 for Witherington’s three-volume set that covers the General Epistles including the Pastorals, Epistles of John and of Peter, and in this volume, Hebrews, James, and Jude. I always marvel at his output as he has written on most of the NT and other subjects as well.Having reviewed the other two volumes, I feel he keeps up his standard of work here. He keeps that socio-rhetorical emphasis that he is famous for as well. I can’t always agree with his conclusions, but they are never uninteresting.He deals with Hebrews first. He summarizes the different viewpoints on authorship well (he favors Apollos) and rightfully emphasizes Christology to good effect. He sees Hebrews as a rhetorical masterpiece and I agree. His commentary, though I would disagree at points, was helpful.I chuckle at how he writes his Introductions for each book because he approaches them in a different order each time and just seems to start at random. Still, he gets it covered each time.Next, he tackles James. As you might imagine with his emphases, he writes on the “social ethos of James’s audience and home congregation” with good food for thought. I found his thoughts on Jude even better.This is a quality commentary of the acedemic type and I recommend it.I received this book free from the publisher.
